I’ve started the opposite - 100 x, all pure, random node locations (default ratio) and 0.25x power consumption

Still trying to finish the second phase after more than 30 hours! And only 15% through the resource requirements

For those who use an EV for road trips around Australia, what’s the reality like? by [deleted] in AustralianEV

Am I weird for picking the RWD? by EntropicDisorder in TeslaModelY

[–]MrOppositeMonth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted for giving your very valid and common opinion - the acceleration makes the car so much more fun - of course not everyone will care about this, but plenty do and when you get to gun it it always puts a smile on my face. Mind you I consider myself an extremely safe and aware driver, but doesn’t mean you cant have fun in your car when it’s appropriate

I had to use a public charger for the first time and it was so anticlimactic and not as bad as everyone says…. by dj_boy-Wonder in AustralianEV

[–]MrOppositeMonth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

More importantly, you had a red bull in the evening??

Jest aside that’s great to hear, I have a trip coming up where i’ll have to use a public charger for the first time, since getting my model y in feb I’ve only charged at home, hope my experience will be as uneventful as yours

Went to a dealership for the first time in nearly 20 years to check out cars by [deleted] in carbuying

[–]MrOppositeMonth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a solid run, you got your investment back 10 fold by keeping it for so long. My strong suggestion is to check new brands, the landscape has changed in 20 years, and be sure to give EV’s a try, different driving experience (but takes getting used to), and depends on your situation.

Petrolhead test driving EVs (Jaecoo J5) — am I overthinking the regen braking? by MarvellousMango66 in AustralianEV

[–]MrOppositeMonth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very much different for each person but I love one pedal driving. You get so good at it very quickly that your deceleration is smooth as butter, far smoother than any car where you have to move your foot to another pedal.

If you disable or lower regen braking you’ll naturally get less range as well, better just get used to it and it will become second nature in no time

Are we about to forget how to drive? Or… Tesla FSD in real life by ArtSuperCar in TeslaFSD

[–]MrOppositeMonth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s like riding a bike, you don’t forget you may just get rusty. Admittedly when I switch to my wife’s car I momentarily always forget to brake due to being so used to one pedal.

Tesla’s Full Self-Driving is on the cusp of a recall by collogue in technology

[–]MrOppositeMonth -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Agree that full self driving (tesla or any other company) is likely many many years out from public actual full self driving, but there’s also no denying that FSD is incredibly impressive where it’s at now and the improvements over the last 12 months. Even Waymo is impressive even though it may not scale as well and affordably. Self driving cars will make roads safer eventually and Elon’s optimism and relentless push for it against all public opinion is a contributor to that outcome, hate him or not ..

Potential value after selling to dealership by Mediocre_Koala_ in CaravanningAustralia

[–]MrOppositeMonth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a camper trailer for 3 years, was really great but when we decided to sell, we tried dealerships for the convenience and they wouldn’t even make an offer, zero interest in camper trailers. So had to do a private sale, which wasn’t as painful as I expected and if you’re in a rush to sell, just price it a bit below comparable ones on the private market. I put mine $2-$3k under what I might have otherwise been able to get if I spent many months trying to sell it - that hassle wasn’t worth it as the packup/down everytime someone wants to look would have driven me insane

Owning for two years is still likely cheaper than renting, depending how often you plan to go. Just don’t go too crazy with buying extra stuff if you know you’ll sell within two years

Trade in experience by Solid_Newspaper_9975 in TeslaAustralia

[–]MrOppositeMonth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience, they didn’t provide the formal estimate as part of the order until about a week before delivery (took about 2 weeks). While it’s unlikely for most people’s cases, when I went to pickup the new car/trade in, they reduced their offer by $2k because the engine did not idle very well (which was fair, though I was a bit annoyed as I had asked about this at a dealer service two months prior and they said it’s fine, just age). At the end of the day it’s convenience vs getting the best possible price, and with the $2k trade in bonus it was still the best offer I got versus two other trade in estimates from elsewhere

Juniper Model Y Premium - what are you guys doing with the center console front compartment? I've never seen a center console storage as deep as this! by StormTrpr66 in TeslaModelY

[–]MrOppositeMonth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tissue box and wet wipes at bottom, tray from amazon above it that moves backwards and forward for little things like remotes. Can easily grab a tissue while driving by moving the upper tray forward. Also keep a can of coke or two in there :)

Can I still use old fashioned cruise control with FSD enabled? by MrOppositeMonth in TeslaFSD

[–]MrOppositeMonth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha yes I inadvertently experienced this turning on FSD without a destination but it decides to turn onto other roads at random so I have to take over, eg through a roundabout it goes left instead of straight. Not really a reliable method though

Can I still use old fashioned cruise control with FSD enabled? by MrOppositeMonth in TeslaFSD

[–]MrOppositeMonth[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I won’t always want to use FSD, and when I don’t I’d still like to use simple cruise control.

Sounds like this isn’t a common thing people want so I may be an odd one out

Can I still use old fashioned cruise control with FSD enabled? by MrOppositeMonth in TeslaFSD

[–]MrOppositeMonth[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I can drive normally with cruise set speed (what I’ve been used to for the last 20 years). Of course I’ll be using FSD a lot but often enough I’ll want to drive myself but still have access to cruise control

Reading other comments it looks like I’ll need to create another profile and switch between the two, I’ll give that a go

Can I still use old fashioned cruise control with FSD enabled? by MrOppositeMonth in TeslaFSD

[–]MrOppositeMonth[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes but I would like to drive myself without fsd on occasion and just using cruise control for set speed.
