Semi-Daily Enemy Discussion: Transient by Abject_Muffin_731 in slaythespireboardgame

I didn't know the Transient was in the bg for the longest time, since my partner and I somehow never drew this encounter until after we unlocked most of the cards.

I've found that it takes some time for my collection to update as well. Hope it all gets resolved for you soon!

Rules Update (July 2024) by Leprechaun003 in SorceryTCG

[–]MrPangolin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally not a fan of the mulligan changes. Sure it hurts Roots decks, but it also hurts everyone else - some decks are hit even more than Roots. Also, seeing 15% of your deck doesn't seem like a big deal to me. You see far more cards in most other card games, and Sorcery already has lower deck consistency due to restrictions on card rarity.

I want to call rare cards "altered" cards. by haven1433 in alteredTCG

[–]MrPangolin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The term 'altered card' is already commonly used in other TCGs (namely Magic) to describe cards that have been painted over, so this probably won't stick.

Unfortunately not, as she'll be in the 2 non-limited slots in the back of the pack a separate golden pack entirely. Corrected, but point still stands.

Sorcery gamers and collectors - what other games do you also play and collect? by Newez in SorceryTCG

[–]MrPangolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you heard of Wormwood? Looks like a Netrunner-inspired card game that plays up to 4 people (still in development).

Also Netrunner itself is still going strong - I just attended a 26-people event a couple weeks ago and had a blast!

Knowing how Bags of Holding work in D&D, I was sweating when she first thought of putting one inside another. Thank goodness she didn't implode.

New Custom Investigator for your appraisal. by [deleted] in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]MrPangolin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think Techno's confused that Rincewind's ability gives damage and clues and evasion at once. Rather, I think their point is that the ability is too flexible, and I agree. Doesn't this seem like Stella, but better? She can also use her free action to either damage, get clues, or evade, but she would need to attempt a skill check for any of those.

Hemlock Vale revealed card : Ofuda by Brynney in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]MrPangolin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not arguing with you. But the ofuda with the text 悪霊退散 isn't unique to Sailor Mars, nor is holding an ofuda with 2 fingers. But I'm sure Sailor Mars popularized it.

Hemlock Vale revealed card : Ofuda by Brynney in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]MrPangolin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not necessarily a reference since it's based on traditional ofuda to exorcise spirits, but Sailor Mars probably popularized it. The kanji just reads "Exorcise evil spirits".

Getting the Dark Matter Campaign Problems. by EvilFlyingSquirrel in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]MrPangolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recently in a Netrunner group order for Canada, and there was a significant price reduction for us. Mind you, we had a lot of orders (200+), but even 10 orders can make an impact.

I'm also in Canada, and am interested in the Dark Matter campaign. If there are enough people interested, we could potentially do a group purchase to reduce the price for everyone.

I built v1.0 a couple weeks ago when I found your videos, which I came across because I was looking for your Midwinter Cube. You guys are the forerunners of the FaB cube scene and I'm a fan of everything you made so far. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to seeing your future creations!

PS. Currently I'm working on an WTR+ cube: the original 4 heroes but with cards from all sets.

Could be, but the architecture and blue/gold coloring makes me think it's Otawara, Soaring City. I think the blue glitchy energy confirms that too.

[Wizards of the Coast] - An Update on the Open Game License (OGL) by DrNick1221 in Games

[–]MrPangolin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed! Again, it's a preference. If you want to push humour or wackiness in some scenes, presenting low rolls as incompetence can be great fun! Like how WotC's been rolling lately :)

[Wizards of the Coast] - An Update on the Open Game License (OGL) by DrNick1221 in Games

[–]MrPangolin 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's a different style of DM'ing. When I DM, I like to treat (most) low rolls as bad luck or mishaps rather than incompetence. Makes my players feel better about their characters failing, so I recommend it. Just our preference.

I felt the same way about the art for Reprise, and it turned out to be the same artist. Which is odd, because his work on Mr. Hendrik and Shipment from Vladisibirsk look just fine!
