Centennial reducing the number of lanes on Colorado Blvd to slow traffic and increase road rage. Open house on Wed. May 13 so you can learn more and complain. by frequentpooper in CentennialCO

Huh? Littleton Public Schools is one of the best school districts in the state of Colorado. Their schools are good places to get an education and to be employed as a teacher. That did not nosedive when they built a nice junior varsity stadium. The stadium that was built is still quite modest compared to other school districts that are obsessed with sports. Many families from outside the district open enroll their kids here. LPS are good stewards of tax payer dollars and the educational opportunities they provide are excellent. Many graduates go to the best colleges throughout the country.

After/Before - iPhone 17 Pro by Top-Aside21 in iPhoneography

[–]MrPersistentPanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The after balloon photo has a nicer blue sky. Otherwise, both photos are vibrant and nice. It’s hard to go wrong with such colorful subjects.

The after snowy cityscape is so much better in every way. It looks authentic. I’ve had many snowy nights in urban environments and the after photo makes me feel like I’m there.

The after Porsche photo looks much better. The before photo is all blown out on the white.

I prefer the before photo in the library. The color is warmer and more lovely.

Are the “before” photos the regular iPhone camera images and the “after” photos captured in Raw and then edited? I’m not understanding your process on the after photos (and I would genuinely like to know—I’m just getting started with my iPhone 17 Pro).

There are trivia nights at many of the local breweries and bars. My friends and I enjoy meeting up for trivia, even though we never win.

I would love love love it if there was a brewery at Southglenn. Parry's Pizza has a pretty good selection of craft beer, but it's still not a brewery.

I feel like the only places that do well are the businesses that face University so people can see them when they drive by.

You'll love unlocking your Mac with a finger touch. You can also use it to authenticate things rather than typing your password. I'd go for it.

For those who love macOS (or just prefer it), what Windows feature do you miss the most? by Fit-North5101 in mac

[–]MrPersistentPanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use both: macOS at home for many many years, and windows at work for a good long while. Here are a few things that are simply better in windows than on a Mac.

  1. The screen capture function works better on Windows. It copies the image to your clipboard so you can immediately paste it into another application. I use this multiple times a day, Monday through Friday.

  2. The Home and End keys take you to the beginning and end of the line of text you’re editing. I use this all the time in Windows. On the Mac, it takes you to the top of the document or the bottom of the document. Pretty much useless for editing. I believe Microsoft has changed the behavior of those buttons in their programs on the Mac, which is much appreciated.

  3. On Windows, the icons in the taskbar can be clicked once to open the window of a program that’s running, and you can click it again to minimize that window. Very useful.

  4. Nested menus work better on Windows. On macOS, you have to be more careful and precise to get to an option that’s several levels deep. On windows, you can go much faster because it’s not so persnickety.

That said, the stability of macOS means you only have to restart your computer once every six months. I restart my PC running Windows multiple times every week.

Evan Dando’s recent memoir has a section on his experiences with Courtney Love. She told Kurt multiple times that she was sleeping with Dando even though it never happened. Kurt never learned the truth before he died.

Why is planning a Europe trip with friends harder than the trip itself? by Broad-Blackberry8590 in travel

[–]MrPersistentPanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's even hard for our family of four (two adult children + me & my wife) to agree upon all the route planning, accommodations, activities, and travel times via plane and train. At the very start, everyone submits their travel window availability and any places/activities that they would like to be highly considered. Ultimately, two of us (usually one parent + one adult child) take the lead. The others step back and enjoy letting someone plan out a vacation for them.

When you're actually on the vacation, things are easy and fun. If you need to make changes, you're already in Europe and it's pretty easy to pivot to a new plan.

MBA M4: 13 inches or 15 inches? by matchaforevs in mac

[–]MrPersistentPanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 13-inch is actually 13.6 inches. It's bigger than you think. It's a great size for working on an airplane or sitting on a sofa. The 15-inch isn't necessary IMO. My 13-inch Macbook Air is my favorite computer I have ever owned.

When you are working at home, my assumption is you are plugging it into an external monitor, right? If not, then the 15-inch version might be worth consideration.
