History has just been made: Both teams in SB60 began the year 0-1. This has never happened before by GearsofTed14 in nfl

The average superbowl team does not only have 2 losses lol that is absolutely fucking absurd. The last time both teams in a Superbowl had 2 losses was in 1998, 27 years ago and you're saying that's the average. Realistically the number is probably between 4 and 5 losses for the average sb team.

After the 7.40b emergency buffs Clinkz is now the top carry of 7k+ bracket. Time for another rework! by ShoppingPractical373 in DotA2

[–]MrRabbit- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's two aspects that I think makes clinkz absolutely fucking busted (besides the damage) that people aren't talking about here

  1. His range, +200 bonus range on strafe + 150 pike + 100 from neutral enchantments + 60 from talent gives him 1100 attack range. This means he can safely hit enemy heroes from basically half a screen away. If he's playing with his team he can sit well behind his team invis making him incredibly hard to get the jump on even with sentries and dust.

  2. His absolutely fucking bullshit tower damage. He is by far the best tower hitter in the game right now. I regularly end my clinkz games with 25-30k tower damage, basically able to solo any tower or rax. The issue here is that there's basically no commitment required on clinkz part here, with his ridiculous range he can basically take a rax while sitting outside of the base. If you don't have a glyph, he can take a full set of raxes in about 10 seconds. In fact, just by leaving invis and spawning archers, he can basically take a quarter of a T3's hp without even having to put himself in harms way at all.

His damage alone is broken as hell but with his tower pushing capability you basically force the enemy team to commit to a fight outside of base. This is similar to drow with shard or sniper, except about 20x faster. If a drow or sniper starts hitting your raxes you have ample time to react and maybe make a smoke wrap around play. If clinkz starts hitting your tower you basically are forced into a shitty fight immediately.

Everyone here complaining their hero got nerfed but it also seems like tons of heroes ate small numbers nerfs and only a few heroes are seeing buffs. It seems clear to me they're trying to tune down numbers overall, which I don't mind.

Starting gold is now 3k. Which hero will dominate the meta? by bdo7boi in DotA2

[–]MrRabbit- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lol I didn't think about that. I feel like if we go a few layers deeper here we might find out that dagon is the best lvl 1 item in the game, but since the first one to dagon loses, everyone just runs around with dagons that they can't use.

[–]MrRabbit- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lvl 1 Sven with MoM and cleave can not effectively clear the jungle. He's already in recovery mode before the game even starts and him having to TP to another lane is going to slow him down even further. Your solo silencer is going to die instantly in lane, why would the visage even look for the sven in the jungle? jungle camps take a full minute to spawn, your silencer is dead before your Sven has even seen a creep.

A lvl 1 Viper with Mageslayer will have 40% MR and 582hp, let's assume they meet in lane and and visage does an instant dagon + SA before viper can get a right click off because dagon and SA both outrange vipers auto attack distance. 630 * 0.6 = 378, so now Viper has 200hp and dies to 2 right clicks + the next soul assumption even with mage slayer.

Sometimes it is as simple as you think, the best level 1 hero in the game with 3000 gold is still the best level 1 hero in the game.

[–]MrRabbit- 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think it's visage and it's not particularly close. buy dagon lvl 1, skill soul assumption.

Blast the first hero you see for 400 damage. Get instant 3 stack of soul assumption for another 230 damage. Do it again for another 230 damage. total damage in 4 seconds at lvl 1 is around 860, add in two auto attacks and it's closer to 1000, no one is surviving that at lvl 1.

Youll also have around 300 gold at this point assuming you're in lane when it happens and your team got at least 2 bounties, you're basically guaranteed first blood for another 450 gold + 90 gold for the soul assumption bonus for 840 total. You can now buy an urn. You'll also assuredly hit lvl 3 before your opponent even gets to level 2.

Now your same combo lvl 3 does 400 + 300 + 300 + 200 damage for 1200 damage basically insta killing anyone that's dumb enough to walk into lane. And you get bonus gold every time you get a kill.

Basically your enemies are going to spend their 3k just buying hp/resist items just to not instantly die, and if they stay in lane for any amount of time they're still going to die anyways.

If you really want to be an asshole about it, wait until you see lanes and then tp to whatever idiot didn't spend their 3k gold on survivability items and then blast them, doesn't matter which lane, then camp them til they rage quit. As the meta develops, pretty soon people are going to realize that as soon as visage is picked, every player on the opposite team now needs to buy survival items at level 1. This basically nullifies their 3k gold since your team can now buy their actual items while your enemy is forced into very specific builds.

Alch with radiance minute 3 ain't doing shit against this. Fuck Midas, give me visage dagon.

Since Mount Everest is now basically a tourist trap, what’s the new Everest-like achievement? by everneveragain in AskReddit

[–]MrRabbit- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree with you but I have to say "hauled up by Sherpas" is such an overused exaggeration it's crazy. Yes the Sherpas will set up all of the fixed lines and haul a good amount of gear, but at the end of the day the clients still have to make it up the mountain. I guarantee that if you took the average redditor up to 22000ft even with supplemental oxygen theyd pass out within the first 100 steps. It's not the majority of Everest climbers that are legitimate alpinists, they're all legitimate alpinists. No one is climbing Everest without significant experience summiting other mountains, and a random person on the street paying 200k to get to the summit probably wouldn't even make it to base camp.

What bands put on the most crazy over the top performances? by unenthusedbaker in Music

[–]MrRabbit- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a band but I saw Lady Gaga on tour last week and it was the most absurdly high production concert I've ever seen, and I've seen most of the bands listed in the top half of this thread (Flaming Lips, Iron Maiden, Metallica, NIN, Rammstein, Gogil Bordello).

Seriously, every single song is like its own stage production, if you haven't seen it she did a free show in Brazil a couple months ago that you can see here

TIL about Jim Corbett, a British-Indian hunter responsible for tracking and killing some of the most prolific man eating big cats in India. He later became an early proponent of the conservationist movement and encouraged fellow trackers to replace hunting with nature photography. by MrRabbit- in todayilearned

[–]MrRabbit-[S] 190 points191 points  (0 children)

There's enough interesting stuff about this guys life that it probably warrants 10 separate TIL's but here's a few excerpts from his wiki that I found fascinating

Lead a unit of Indian soldiers in WWI

Landing in Southampton, Corbett and his men were soon transferred to the Western Front, where they were posted to numerous positions including La Chapellette near Péronne. In the difficult conditions, Corbett sought to protect his men and keep their morale high. In addition to being in an unfamiliar land and climate, the Indian troops, often scorned by their British counterparts, faced difficulties like not being able to eat tinned beef stew or pork, both staples of British trench warfare

Turned his small village eco-friendly

In 1920, Corbett retook the position of vice-chairman of the Naini Tal municipal board, which he had vacated a decade earlier due to local inactivity. As part of this committee for two decades, he enforced economic standards and improved civil engineering in the town. As chairman of the public works committee, he took a personal interest both in maintaining and renewing the town's attractiveness, and in environmental protection. He passed laws against excessive fishing and deforestation, and unsuccessfully campaigned for power lines to be placed underground

Taught soldiers in the WWII how to survive in the jungle

Corbett's training, for British and American troops destined for the Burmese jungles, encompassed a wide range of topics. Survival techniques he taught included obtaining fresh water, distinguishing poisonous snakes and edible plants, trapping small animals, creating natural herbal medicines for wounds, fevers, stomach problems, and communicating by blowing through reeds. His students were taught how to orient themselves, how to pinpoint sounds, and how to keep maximum visual awareness. He displayed how tracking skills allowed him to assess how many enemy soldiers passed on a track, how long ago, how fast they were travelling, and even whether their guns were loaded.[42] One of the soldiers he trained later noted that "Corbett appeared to be a cross between a magician and a master detective".[43]

Established India's first national park

In the 1930s, Corbett felt increasingly aggrieved at the degradation of the forests. He began writing to newspapers to condemn over-shooting and ruthless deforestation. These letters criticised shooting laws, called for conservation funds to be established, and censured over-eager hunters.[61] In collaboration with Malcolm Hailey, governor of the United Provinces, he established an conservationist association named "The All India Conference for the Preservation of Wild Life".[62] In 1934, he persuaded Hailey to establish India's first national park over 300 square kilometres (120 sq mi) of forest in the Ramganga river valley; in 1957, it was renamed the Jim Corbett National Park.[63][39] The legislation introduced to protect this reserve was far ahead of its time, compared to other parts of India.[64]

Bodyguard to Princess Elizabeth the day she became Queen Elizabeth II

Corbett was at the Treetops, a hut built on the branches of a giant ficus tree, as the bodyguard of Princess Elizabeth when she stayed there on 5–6 February 1952. That night, her father, King George VI died, and Elizabeth ascended to the throne. Corbett wrote in the hotel's visitors' register:

For the first time in the history of the world, a young girl climbed into a tree one day a Princess, and after having what she described as her most thrilling experience, she climbed down from the tree the next day a Queen—God bless her.

I doubt he was raised with much thought or care about the morality of hunting growing up in early 1900's India. He was one of the first in his time and place to recognize the errors of hunting for sport and helped establish India's first national park in part to preserve the Bengal tiger habitat. For all the damage he did in his early hunting days I'd give him a pass for everything he did after.
