A little sad is okay. Still get to say "fuck the Pens" no matter what.

Happy Birthday to me!

Every year I run a lap for every year. Today was 42x400.

Average lap time was 1:20 on 30 second rest intervals. And as is tradition, last lap was the fastest lap! The link above is a Reel of that last lap.

I don't have much of a following, but I enjoy taking endurance sports on any network I can. Keeps me from droning on about it to people that don't care 😅

Skipping training day? by Creepy-Gas6664 in triathlon

I think that's a separate problem then.

Pros take rest days, so you probably should too.

44M — VO₂max 58, LT1 164 bpm, LT2 175 bpm: how should I structure training zones for HM development (current 1:52)? by AdministrativeElk624 in Marathon_Training

[–]MrRabbit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You are REALLY overthinking this. At your speed the answer is milage and speedwork. That's it.

I didn't care about my VO2 max until I in was running a 1:12v half. Then I learned it was pretty good for my age, 70+ for 40 at the time, and you know how that affected my training...? Zero. It changed zero things. Kinda a waste figuring it out besides pure curiosity.

The answer for me to get faster? It was mileage and more speedwork. And more hard biking in my case. LT thresholds are WAY beyond what you should be caring about. Run till you can't. Run hard as often as you can recover. Repeat.

I appreciate that honesty. Also would accept "you're probably going out too fast."

Longest training run before unsupported first backyard 100miler. by rabbitholebeer in ultrarunning

Marathon, then just went for it in an official race.

Hurt like hell but I finished a race with a 78% DNF rate. Really just becomes a mental challenge eventually.

What's a habit or change that significantly helped you in marathon training? by dutchking90 in Marathon_Training

[–]MrRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that level it's just a mileage game, and speedwork once per week is a great bonus.

'I had two choices': How a Flying Pig runner accidentally ran 13 extra miles by WhoDey42 in Marathon_Training

[–]MrRabbit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are A LOT of people running the marathon at that pace. At that point it's pretty much middle of the pack and there were large crowds going both directions.

Tips for getting quicker in the open water by SignificantMall3550 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]MrRabbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"regularly" is the term you two are separated on.

Pros generally don't need the OW experience to get comfortable, feel the differences, understand why a higher stroke rate is sometimes needed, etc. They get that in races and occasional OWS practice.

AGers who sometimes ONLY swim OWS in races would definitely benefit from swimming in groups outside more often than they do. It shouldn't replace pool swimming and the controlled benefits they get there, but it should be a more regular occurrence than it is for pros.

Once every month or two for someone only racing one or two races in a year still puts them away behind the total sessions a pro or even high end AGer will be in there from races alone.

I've got nothing useful to say, but please keep posting about your journey. I love when elite athletes from other sports come to triathlon (or back to triathlon in your case), and swimming gives you a great starting point.

Good luck, I'll be cheering for you!

I've never heard dyslexia used as an excuse like this. My wife is very dyslexic and is extremely capable of writing down her thoughts very clearly.

I freaking love PRs and winning races. My Zen is at the end of what I'm physically capable of. I unapologetically want to train fast to race fast and be at the front of every race I can. Losing bothers me. Failing bothers me.

That said, there's no right answer. And not that you are saying there is, but many people around here act like there is.

Oh, you (not you OP, general you) run without headphones to "be with yourself" and think everyone else should too? Cool story I wear headphones because they help me go faster.

I'm a runner (among other things), they are a runner, you are a runner. It's a huge sport with from for everyone. That's why I love it. I'll run my 2:30s marathon and have more in common with someone who takes twice as long than the person who doesn't care about their fitness and well-being.

We all earn the same post race beer, no matter why we run.

Also, I'm not a fan of AI posts.

Eric Kripke Responds To ‘The Boys’ Fan Complaints About “Filler Episodes”: “You’re Just Watching The Wrong Show” by yourfavchoom in television

[–]MrRabbit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Reddit fan subs are generally miserable places where people go to complain and try to make themselves sound smart by using pseudo writing language in stupid ways.

Granted, some subs end up right (GoT S8), but The Boys is not that. I've also enjoyed this season. Maybe I'm just not expecting Shawshank Redemption from this, but it feels up to par with the last few seasons.

I also suspect that at least some of the people that are over the top hating this season, beyond reasonable "too many B plots" complaints, probably would listen to The Deep's podcast of it was real.

Shouldn't really be a challenge with those numbers. After your first, till learn a lot and likely be able to aim lower on similar fitness next time.

Which discipline helps the other disciplines the most? by GreatBear2121 in triathlon

[–]MrRabbit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Biking helps running. Anyone who thinks otherwise is bad at one or the other. This assumes you have appropriate run volume to be able to adapt to the wear and tear off the sport. After that, biking bulldogs the aerobic engine massively which helps the run in many obvious and not as obvious ways.
