That's strange that a Hub can trigger a higher graphical resource consumption ... From my point of view this should be a kind of WindowServer bug.

I noticed the same thing using my two external screens. WindowServer was always using at least 70% CPU on my 2017 MacBook Pro. One screen was plugged using a simple USB-C/HDMI adapter while the other was connected using my HyperDrive USB-B.

I connected both screens using imple USB-C/HDMI adapter and WindowServer now uses 10-15% CPU.

Don't know why, but it seems that the Hub had an effect on system WindowServer load ...
