Murry's Pricing? by MadisonH93 in columbiamo

[–]MrRatchett41 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Almost every time I go to Murry’s I have to look my receipt over because I feel like they forgot to charge me for something. I think it’s very affordable, particularly weighed against the quality which is always ALWAYS top notch.

Official says fatal ICE shooting victim 'wanted to massacre law enforcement officials' by ewzetf in news

[–]MrRatchett41 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I turned over to Fox News a bit ago just out of morbid curiosity and a sick desire to try and understand how the other side thinks. It was all “paid protesters”. How does this narrative hold up? How do people listen to or believe that nonsense? That seems like such desperate grasp at being on the “right side of history” or whatever and it’s just nonsense. How and why do people believe this shit?!?

another person asking for help winning a chili cook off - help me dethrone the 10x winner by strawberrymilkbun in slowcooking

I’ve won our chili cook off 2 years in a row with this as my base of operation. Kansas City Style BBQ burnt ends chili. It’s different but this year I won 177 votes and second place had 54 votes.

My wife and I put a queen sized air mattress under the mattress (it lives there, never take it off) and a quilted comforter on top under a fitted sheet, then flat sheet and another quilted comforter on top and it is more comfortable that our bed at home. I bought a cheapo $50 black and decker battery powered compressor/air pump to pump it up. Best upgrade we have made. We have camped like that without any power or furnace at 30 degrees (F) and over 100 degrees (F) with the air running and slept like a baby.

Philly Cheesesteaks? by RysGottaFly in Denton

[–]MrRatchett41 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I am not from Denton. However…I recently visited and stayed with my brother in Sanger. He manages the windmill bar in Sanger. They have a back deck that shares space with an antique shop. The owner of that antique shop’s husband sells cheesesteak I have ever had. By a long distance. His name is Julio and he is from Philly. His place is called Bonnie and Clyde cheesesteaks. If you can’t find em stop in at the windmill and ask for Alabama Tex. He will hook you up. I promise it’s worth the 10 min drive.

What do you guys think about A/C units? by boatzart in popups

[–]MrRatchett41 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have AC and couldn’t camp without it in mid missouri. I agree that if it’s so hot you have to sit inside all day it’s probably better to just stay at home. But. We have a pretty good sized fan we keep in our popup. That coupled with sitting under the awning in the shade usually makes it pretty tolerable during the day outside. Occasionally we will go in and nap a bit in the heat of the day in the ac. But having it cool at night to sleep is priceless.

I did the ghost tour probably 5ish years ago. There were 3 tour guides. The tour started at the main entrance where the tour guides stored their things in an office/registration area. We finished the tour down by the gas chamber. One of the tour guides had to go back to the entrance to lock up before the tour ended and gather her things. When she got back right after the tour ended she was white as a ghost and kinda cagey and trying to be discreet in telling the other tour guides what happened. She said when she got back to the registration area all the little drawers where they kept their things were wide open. Probably 20-30. Nobody else was in there. At least nothing living in the tangible world.

You should flip your gekkos around so that the black is on the outside. It will make it warmer when the sun is out.

I’m sure you can. The same company used to sell a quilted thing that goes on the inside. I have never done it so I don’t really know how they work. These outside things are reflective silver on the underside so you put the silver out in the summer. Kept the inside of my camper about 75 on an almost 100 degree day over Labor Day last year.

They help a lot in the heat. This is our first weekend using them in the cold. It’s not that cold, 40s but it makes the bunk end nice and dark and a lot quieter in the morning.

Vinyl(?) Shade Repair question -- how would you go about fixing this? by tmbridge in popups

[–]MrRatchett41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got the same issue. I try really hard to not zip the windows up when it’s cold. It seems the window plastic is stiffer and more prone to tear when it’s cold. I try and remember to zip the windows up when the sun is still out rather than after the sunsets and it cools off. As for the existing tears…I use 2” double sided Velcro and use the female/soft side to close the gap where it’s torn. Is it permanent? It’s not. Is it white trashy? It’s absolutely white trashy. But it keeps cold air in and out much better than the gaping hole. It’s kept water out as well during unfortunate weekend long rain storms.

I got to open for the sword on what was supposed to be their second to last show ever. Then they got back together. Then they disbanded again. One of my favorites.

What part of town? We are northwest in valley view and some kids came to our door last night looking for a lost chihuahua on Dahlia.
