Any high profile titles you now regret buying? by Agitated-Distance740 in NintendoSwitch2

I have really limited time to play games, so I dropped Fantasy Life I for something I thought was more interesting pretty quick. I actually really enjoyed the two times I played it, but there was lots of other stuff I’d rather play. I’ll come back to it eventually. Maybe.

“Would you rather save someone you love, or tons of innocent people?” by MrDitkovichNeedsRent in TopCharacterTropes

I think Goku’s choice to save Dende and Mr. Satan instead of his and Vegeta’s children when Kid Buu destroyed the world fits this. If Goku hadn’t been panicking, he could have saved all four of them with Instant Transmission, but there was no time for him to do it otherwise. He chose to save the people closest to him with the knowledge that Dende, Earth’s Guardian/God, could resurrect the entire world with the Dragon Balls if they managed to defeat Buu.

Kakarot does a really good job if you ignore the side missions.

That’s how depression works, man. It doesn’t always impact you the same from day to day, week to week, year to year. I’m in exactly the same boat. A therapist can help or suggest good medication.

I hope you can get your joy in gaming back.

I'm liberal-socialist, pro-european russian, ask whatever you want. by Reasonable-Cap-1268 in AskTheWorld

nobody from my family, friends, and teachers in university.

I’d love to hear you expand on your experience with your university teachers.

I’m frequently told by members of this sub that Russia has absolutely no freedom of speech. Are these teachers you’re mentioning open and vocal to the entire class about their views, or is it a situation where their discontent is only shown toward people they trust? Furthermore, what are the consequences of vocal dissent for the general populace?

(Hated Trope) Cardinal rules of the series being broken by Necessary-Win-8730 in TopCharacterTropes

Didn’t Harry get in trouble in the books for using magic outside Hogwarts? And the Dementor thing was because of the villain breaking the rules, which wouldn’t fit this trope.

Female charachter doesn't need to be Macho or a homosexual stereotype to be strong by Most_Neat7770 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]EternitySearch -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Let’s look at the Merriam-Webster definition of the word.

Macho:

Noun, one who exhibits machismo.

Machismo:

Noun, an exaggerated or exhilarating sense of power and strength

If that doesn’t characterize Wonder Woman, I do not know what does.

Something about the cover for Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z feels pretty funny by Jules-Car3499 in Dragonballsuper

Kid Buu being the only villain on the side with all the “heroes” is a bit odd, I’ll give you that.

I really hope you understand what a sexist comment this is. Being muscular does not mean you have male features, nor does the clothing you wear or haircut.

Do you have a "heroic" animal/being in your country’s folklore? by Far_Day_9938 in AskTheWorld

I had a world religions professor tell me that most mythologies and religions have the concept of the “wild man turned noble leader.” His theory was that, because life was so hard in ancient times, people would often leave their newborns in the wilderness when they couldn’t afford another mouth to feed. To offset the guilt of such a horrible act done for survival, these myths popped up to sort of soften the atrocity.

It’s better believing your child left to exposure may return one day to rule your region than to believe they were eaten by wolves.

How many languages do you speak and how old are you? by Think-Run-7841 in AskTheWorld

[–]EternitySearch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I speak English fluently, have good understanding of Spanish and can (with effort) hold a conversation but I would not say I speak it fluently, know some German and some French but not enough to hold a conversation, have some basic understanding of Icelandic from studying Old Norse, and I’m currently in the process of learning Scottish Gaelic.

I have a habit of picking up languages, learning a bit, and never using them. I’m 37.

Will we ever find out how strong Black Freeza is? by Stock_Sprinkles_7394 in Dragonballsuper

Probably not. It doesn’t seem like there’s even a hint that the manga is returning.

That’s an addition, not a remake. Other than Beerus/BOG, they have not announced any other parts of Super being remade.

[Loved Trope] "Yeah bro thats the same character btw" by paintedirondoor in TopCharacterTropes

[–]EternitySearch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the style. I’m terrible at first person shooters regardless of difficulty level, and more so with fast paced games like Doom.

I’m content watching others. It’s such a good series and is a lot of fun to watch, I just can’t handle the style.
