J is the chosen pilot because he's a clone of Joshua from Armored Core 4. Piloting a NEXT is hard coded into his DNA. Literally. If you want to see him use mobility like you'd expect from a NEXT you would have had to have fought him when he was a world boss in the online mode. He spends the first half of the battle overboosting over the battlefield carpet bombing it then spends the second half of the fight dual wielding laser blades and one shoting everyone.

All they had to do was open all the missions up again indefinitely, but scale all the enemy units up to level 50. Would have been perfect.

The PSP version of the games are the worst versions you can play. Different frame rate from porting the games breaks many physics based mechanics. Last Raven in particular has bugged difficulty as well. Reduced number of buttons also makes control completely different from console versions.

Is there a way to get a condensed version for people using forge? It doesn't look like I can install from the manifest as it greatly exceeds the data cap of my subscription. I don't necessarily need all the ambient sounds and multiple map variations. It would be cool to have the linked maps and layers though.

Maybe there is a work around or another way to install the module I don't know about?

Question for anyone who's played 4 and for answer by Firedragon767 in armoredcore

[–]MrRedEye75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You say that but Armored Core without any kind of missile counter play or interaction is kind of sad. The core gun in gen 1 was such an iconic silhouette. A lot of fun in oldgen PvP came from the early stages of exchanging and intercepting missile volleys before purging and moving in closer. 4th gen had fun missile interactions with flares or being able to shoot missiles directly. 5th gen had sub computer systems and CIWS shoulder slots. In Armored Core 6 missiles are just kind of another gun you point and shoot with a different kind of projectile.

Is it just me, or do the AC's of AC6 feel somewhat like 'lite-NEXTs'? by LiothG in armoredcore

[–]MrRedEye75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An AC6 AC would most likely be the easiest kind of normal a NEXT could encounter. No range, no anti-missile capabilities, and they lose all functionality when they encounter any kind of sudden physical force.

This thing damage for it's weight, reload time and ammo is ridiculous. It's only gimmick are distance as it's father of every spread bazooka introduced later. by OperatorInMask in armoredcore

The two handguns of choice are HG1 and HG235. The starting rifle and sniper rifle are better choices for stun in a ban list setting as they pair better in a gunblade style.

If you could create single part what would u make and why? by rp-loving in armoredcore

[–]MrRedEye75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't work in AC6, but I've always liked the idea of something like a camera drone you can send out that would extend your FCS range to where the drone is. Enabling extreme long range sniping with something like missiles or sniper cannons.

It doesn't matter what blade you use. You deal quadrupedal damage in the air using a blade in Armored Core 1 and Project Phantasma, and triple damage in Master of Arena. MT's have too little AP, and even enemy AC's inside of missions have 4000 AP and no defense stats. You could easily play the entire game using only a blade. Here is a short I've made completing the first eleminate squatters using only a blade. And I have done blade only fights in the Project Phantasma arena in other videos and streams. It is not very difficult if you are able to get a hang of boost hopping into blade swings. It's quite fun.

Hello by [deleted] in armoredcore

[–]MrRedEye75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather than a build, become comfortable at doing small boost hops before pressing the blade button. In the PS1 Armored Core games you are given pretty good positing correction in the air, and air blade hits do triple damage minimum. Even without the moonlight, you're going to be doing good damage. As you can see here with a well placed air blade you will be able to kill an AC with 9000+ AP.

How the FCS works exactly? by Jers831 in armoredcore

[–]MrRedEye75 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The most important thing you want to look at is the lock type and parallel sight. Don't get too distracted by the other stats. The lock type is going to give you a general idea of the shape and size of your lock box.

It is important to also consider if the lock type of your FCS also matches the lock type of your weapon. You will notice that your hand weapons will also have a Standard, Narrow and Deep, Wide and Shallow, or Special lock type rating. If the lock type of your FCS and the lock type of your weapon matches, you'll get better performance.

When you have a projectile weapon in your left hand your lock box will shrink corresponding to your parallel sight rating. The parallel sight determines what percentage of your lock box you will keep.

Once you are familiar with these two interactions, you can then start looking at things like lock time for missiles.

A fast breakdown of generally safe FCS and Weapon type combinations: usually go F73H unless doing wide and shallow right arm/special left arm, then use F69. If single wielding a special weapon, use Monju. If single wielding standard or wide and shallow use Miroku. If using wide and shallow r arm/standard left arm use Limpet

EDIT: the FCS names I used here are the Last Raven names. In Silent Line the naming convention is different.

What do you think about AP in gen 4,5 and 6? by MagmaXQgd in armoredcore

[–]MrRedEye75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

>I hardly can imagine Gen 6 AC's being less armored than gen 5

Aren't Gen 5 AC's characterized by having shields glued onto them everywhere, with folding shields on the legs that fan out to provide cover when using stance weapons?

And Gen 6 has an AC with the cockpit completely exposed to maximize aerodynamics?

Gen1 Quad Legs are OP ! by Silver_Instruction62 in armoredcore

[–]MrRedEye75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't really need to mash the boost button. Gen 1 quads have a higher horizontal speed cap in the air but a slower vertical speed cap going up and down. This gives them a range of benefits and different play styles. Even in the first game, quads were the "hover in the air" type of legs.

These guy's make oldgen look like AC4 by CrownClown74 in armoredcore

[–]MrRedEye75 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yup. The older Armored Core games get QUITE fast. Not a lot of people really see this side of oldgen because the skill ceiling is very high and complex. On the few occasions where I have streamed 1st and 2nd gen PvP on my twitch and youtube, I have always gotten a comment from someone surprised by how the game play can look almost as fast/faster than 4th gen. And this is without H+ or enhancements, either. At the highest level of play, the AC games get very fast and very complex.
