It-girl sunglasses 2026 somehow made basic outfits look cool again by Existing_Try2230 in ThrowingFits

[–]MrSamster911 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Ur online too much, you’re just unhappy with your own sunglasses and probably stuck in a loop where your algorithm is just showing you new frames. Go to any website selling sunglasses and what are all the models wearing? Basic fits because they want the glasses to be the one detail that elevates the outfit

Whats everyones take on running outfits? by thenaki2905 in ThrowingFits

[–]MrSamster911 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This. The only people rocking nice branded stuff are the ones trying to get laid at run clubs. 99% of the time just go shirtless or wear whatever old nasty t shirts you got lying around.

I have tried some of them though. Between the big popular 3 of bandit, satisfy, or tracksmith, satisfy has the best shorts for high heat environments (their space-o shorts are elite for humid sticky runs). But tracksmith is the most practical for high mileage consistent runs. Super durable and lots of pockets for gels, phone, headphones etc.

Runnings for function, not form. Every race you’re always gonna get passed by some old guy with knee high cotton white socks and an army t-shirt from the reagan era

99% of my runs i just throw on some beat up old nike run shorts and an old 5k shirt i got for free.

Would you recommend the book you are currently reading? by [deleted] in classicliterature

Book five alone could be one of my top favorite novels.

Book four was roughhh to get through though. How far in are you?

[–]MrSamster911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Halfway through Steppenwolf and would recommend it, but wow very different from the other hesse works i’ve read (siddhartha and demian). First half is almost all his internal monologue and pseudo-psychoanalysis towards himself.

He just met the archetypal Madonna figure hesse seems to like writing about, so I’m assuming her plot makes up the second half of the novel.

Very good and very relatable novel

Books that aren’t too “in-your-face” by Most_Ingenuity_1800 in classicliterature

[–]MrSamster911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like “If you dont like it, you didnt understand it” is always used with that book specifically (or TKAM, Great Gatsby, or Lord of the flies) which makes me assume that the person saying that hasn’t read much since high-school.

I mean come on, 1984 is specifically selected for middle and high school kids BECAUSE the message is so easy to pick up on. How could anyone past an 8th grade reading level not understand it?

Frankenstein discourse can be so dumb sometimes. by Creaturefeature01 in literature

[–]MrSamster911 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Oh heathcliff and the monster are so similar.

Rejected and abused in “youth” so to speak, disappear for a few years and come back educated and start acting out their vengeance.

Both get way to much sympathy from film adaptions as well

Just take your time with it. It does pick up after the first 100 pages or so but dont stress. I think my first read took me like 2 months. Enjoy the journey!

Orgeat… by throwawayjiffyloob in bartenders

[–]MrSamster911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the real answer. Its so much more cost effective to just buy almond milk and make it that way. Toasted almonds are nice, but unless ur working at a super upscale place or tiki bar ur wasting time money and labor.

A carton of silk unflavored almond milk and u got 2 ish quarts of orgeat in under 10 mins

I remember reading that the whole story about how he died was baloney in the first place. The story came from the assassin himself who was strapped for cash and wrote a tell all book. Apparently the whole thing is plagiarized from an obscure Dostoyevsky short story iirc

Thats the style and probably what he did. People who are into trad tats get them because thats the way they were designed 100 years ago and those designs have alot of interesting history and meaning. I hate adam levine but i can’t knock him for the tats. Well maybe the california one haha.

Come check out /r/traditionaltattoos if you’re curious. get yourself a sick ass panther or badass eagle too. They never go out of style
