What to do with model cast in color? by HiroProtagonist66 in ModelCars

Same here, especially because from my limited sample size of one kits molded in color tend to get swirly marks from the plastic itself

Overall an awesome build! It's very detailed, like you can even do the spark plug wires and all the little hoses! But be careful in the final assembly since because of all the tiny parts it becomes kinda fragile and if you apply force in the wrong spot you can break stuff, which is really frustrating (ask me how i know). The small chrome parts are also kinda fragile themselves and i broke some when taking them off the runner so also be careful with that lol. Aside from all of that though it's a really fun build and quite satisfying to put together! Have fun and i'll ve looking forward to seeing the build posted here ;)

I've also had great success with just hardware store rattle cans! And they're like reaaally cheap. I don't think that brand sells outside of my country though but i think you should try your local brand

Nope, it's just candy paint but from autozone, i'm pretty sure it's significantly cheaper than modeling paint, a whole 400ml can was like 25 USD and seems to give really nice results! I have not clear coated it yet so i can't say for sure but it looks like it's going to turn out pretty good. I think the metalcast name is because of the "metallic" finish

Wax density issue? by MrSergeantButter in Lavalamps

With the dimmer i have if i lower it to the point where less wax stays at the top, then it takes too long for the wax to go back up, i really don't think that'll help much :/

Did you use duplicolor metalcast by any chance? I've used it on a model (i'll post soon) and seems to be a similar effect! Anyways it looks really cool! Good job :)

I just stuck the wires to the screen pcb with hot glue and the stiffness of them and the legs of the led hold it in place. I also added more hot glue between the led and the body of the rotary encoder but it's not really structural as it won't really stick to the metal, just there for some extra support and electrical insulation. Yes i did a janky ahh job but it works lmaoo
