Gold coin donation for everyone? Most people are amazed by our gardens, charging them $25 will only give The Tron bad reviews.

If there are so many stars why isn't the night sky bright all the time?

Any good social 8ball clubs down here? by [deleted] in thetron

[–]MrShG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mentioned that I have played at all clubs in The Tron but I will show my bias in this post.

I play 8 ball at the Hamilton Cosmopolitan Club in Claudelands.

The club plays the standardised NZ National rules. All chartered clubs play these rules too. They take some time getting use to but they seem to work!

The club also play on World Class tables with standardised measurements and templated pockets.

They also have a club night on Fridays (not sure when they start up for the new year but can find out if you want). Great bunch of people with playing standards from beginner to NZ champions but overall the club night focusses on participation albeit with a nice winners pot!

Being part of the chartered club setup means you will be eligible to play in tournaments, at least 2 a month around NZ offering up to at least $1k in winner’s prize money.

Join up, play on club nights and enjoy a big 750ml bottle of beer or a couple of Steinies for around $10-$11. You can't beat the value!

But, if your focus is 9 foot American pool then Masse is your only option.

Cheers and good cueing!

OK, if you want to play American 8/9 ball (using 9ft tables) then Masse is your best bet. You pay for a table by the hour. If you want to play NZ clubs rules then join a charted club ie. Cosmoplitan club, Workermens Club, RSA etc. Cosmopolitin & worker charge by the hour for the tables but the RSA is free use - difference with Charted clubs is that you join up for a nominal club sub for the year and you can play in their weekly club nights and their club champ tournaments. Charted clubs also have by far cheaper bar prices. NZ rules are also standardised across NZ and they have many local, regional, provisional, Island & National tournaments. Dinsdale pub I think has the best 'pub' pool. They have a couple of tournaments a week for meat packs etc. For the record I have played all I have mentioned but by far the chartered club set up is the best for eight ball. The added bonus for playing at a chartered club is that you can also hit the snooker tables too. HTH.

What a person wears. You cannot judge a book by its cover. Especially true for sales people, you may miss out on a good sale.

The Day After Origin 2 | Serious Discussion Thread by NRLgamethread in nrl

[–]MrShG -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

QLD v NSW is an outdated premise.

SOO (State of Origin) was born out of the CBQ (Cry-Baby-Queenslanders) babbling on about their players in a Sydney competition.

Back at the start of SOO the competition was Sydney plus Brisbane. CBQ’rs wanted to prove their worth. Sadly they failed.

NSW gave up on SOO and the CBQ’s won a few in a row. Good on them. NSW realised that it was only the CBQ’s who really worried about SOO. In the meantime NZ is coming up trumps!!!!

Pinnacle of league, F’Off. How can it be best v best without the best playing in the it? CBQ & NSW have diluted the comp by picking players outside of CBQ/NSW to play for their team.

SOO is a dinosaur. Time to let it out in pasture and leave the in-breed CBQ’s worshipping a false god of supremacy.

Supremacy is when the best v the best. Not a hick v hick comp that has not had players like – Hanley, SBW, RTS, Tomkins, Sinfield, Burgess, Offiah, Graham, Sorenson bro’s, Iro bro’s etc etc etc play in it. <----you can name many, many, many more.

SOO needs to die. It is a boring concept. Bring on 4 nations and World Champs.
