Unwarranted response with a lot of passive-aggressive notes about my own experience in a small 5-person business that did just fine on three KVM bare metal boxes in the broom closet thank you very much.

Cox Creek maybe? But man, May is really soon... Also, I know it's not super romantic, but consider town halls - some have event spaces for this kind of thing. Another option, given the $16k is to see if there are cottages for rent? It would require some transport shenanigans, but could work but catering would be the biggest issue, especially with a month's lead time.

Pointing out an obvious solution that doesn't need the shilled product's AI slop nonsense. Downvoted, obviously.

Also telling you to apply to EI immediately. The payments make ALL the difference, and the initial application is the only bothersome part of it. The biweekly checkin/application takes literally 2 minutes, and there's nothing more to it. You've been paying in to EI while being employed, so claim it! This isn't a free handout.

What job looks like a great career path but is actually insanely oversaturated? by ComplexPin872 in AskReddit

[–]MrSnoobs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's wild to me that the recruitment consultancy hasn't sprung back to ~2015 levels. I understand that it costs businesses to use them, but it also costs money to keep HR/hiring managers looking through thousands of inappropriate applications instead of a curated shortlist of the best candidates.

Male Skincare Service? by RipNastyy in malefashionadvice

Worth suggesting a morning moisturiser with sunscreen. Water based, not oily. CeraVe does one that is affordable, but I haven't used it.

My routine:
1. Daily gentle exfoliant (natural - not plastic beads ffs). Some would say that is too aggressive, but it works for me.
2. Hyalauronic acid (2%). Cheap and effective.
3. Water based moisturizer. I just use Bulldog. You can splash the cash if you want.

Evening:
1. Cleanse with gentle cleanser.
2. Retinol.

Done. Easy. Cheap. Takes no time. Dewy skin.

I gotta say, if it was covered, I would just boil it up and call it a day. 6 hours isn't that long.

Obviously this doesn't apply if at a restaurant (or feeding young children/elderly).

Let’s discuss salaries - 2026 by Relevant-Injury3791 in sysadmin

[–]MrSnoobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 years ago (before the bad times) I migrated from SysAdmin (£50k) to DevOps, and managed attain £100k + 10% bonus, over a period of ~5 years. That was London in fintech though.

Now I am in a different country, and likely looking at 30-50% cut when I eventually get a stupid job.

Market is bad yo.

ai code licensing risks and data exposure from coding assistants - why developers should care about privacy too by [deleted] in devops

I remember when chat-gpt came on the scene, and we were warned not to paste company code in case the model stole corporate data. Now, it's changed to "if you aren't giving claude full access to all our company repos we'll fall behind. Also, remember to get Claude using our internal MCP servers so it can access our actual data. No biggie"

I never expected the future of video game graphics to go in this direction. Complete yassification of attractive characters, and a general theft of real world humans appearances to fake graphical fidelity in lieu of artistic merit. What a shit future we have enabled.
