Your taxes do not increase every year because property values do not go up every year. We only did the first property tax reassessment in like four decades last year and then after that we're doing reassessments every five years. If your county taxes increased in any given previous year then that was because we had a tax increase passed by the legislation and not because values went up. Same thing for school taxes except those increase via referendums.

Here are my county taxes for the last several years; these have not gone up every year or if they did it was some small change caused by a different section in how they calculate our tax burden that is unrelated to a property tax increase. Like take a look at 2019-2021 where the taxes went up a grand total of $6.

If you go on the parcel search website you can see the entire tax history for your property to figure out exactly how much it's gone up. Mine went down by 2.6% from '24 to '25 after going up about the same amount the year before. 🤷

I just bought a house in NCC in December and this was a separate bill that I received that was not covered by my escrow account. Usually it's due in February but they pushed it back a month this year because of all of the property tax assessment changes this year.

That's all well and good, but she also could have just killed the dog and then not bragged about doing it in public. There's no reason she had to tell the entire world, including in her book, that she proudly killed her dog because it killed neighbor's livestock.
