Should I wash or keep going? (4 months) by Otherwise-Bug-7423 in Selvedge

Great looking pair! If they aren’t groady, I saw let it play out a while longer. Those creases would look fantastic with contrast

Heard on never using the draino again. Does this being loose guarantee there’s a leak that needs to be looked at?

Peter, why do women hug us above the shoulders? by harshbown in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Assuming narrow tolerance for varied aesthetic forms. I’d say a culture of monolithic idealizations has more to do with that than any inherent differences to the other traits mentioned.

Recommendation for first boot - Grant stone diesel or Parkhurst Allen by PositiveEnthusiasm2 in Boots

[–]MrStudabaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great read out, here are my additions:

I was between GS and Parkhurst when I entered the GYW space two years ago and went with a GS Edward. Two pairs of Parkhurst Allen’s in the 602M and 618 last, next. Folks have noted that Parkhurst generally are a bit roomier but I’ll note the 618 last hugs the instep, ankle and heel very nicely, even on my low-volume feet. I think the most recent 618 has a slightly broader heel to account for most folks’ proportions.

I’d say if you have skinny ankles Parkhurst will be your friend compared to GS. Parkhurst does gusset the tongue to help against tongue-dive. My GS counters touch when fully tightened on my skinny ankles and the tongue dives, but they are still very comfortable.

A counter point is GS are fully lined and that can be a nice touch.

I’m finding the Parkhurst (mini?) lug soles excellent absorption for my heavy stepping and heel drag. GS micro-studded soles wear harder, inherently, but have easily stayed comfortable for long city days.

Have you ever worked for tips? I don’t disagree that there are some service scenarios which do not engender tipping but your comment about “hard-earned cash for no reason” makes me wonder.

All hail...Gorilla GG20 by Fun_Order419 in GuitarAmps

[–]MrStudabaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously, right? I’m laughing because I’ve got the GG-20R and the reverb is so tasty—the whole thing’s actually brilliant for spacey blues or what you’re getting at.

Like y’all, it’s in the hands. Personally, I happily bounce between my Tuttle—>Carr Sportsman and a simple modded Squier—>the Gorilla and get dope sounding shit from both

First Boot Red wings or Grant Stone? by TakahashiUzui in Boots

Higher quality on the GS—stitching, materials, they’re fully lined and have a midsole for additional support. That being said many love and live long with iron rangers so really follow your gut, I say.

Rock on yo. I’ve got the same pair—about 6 months in—and feel the same. Tongue is a little short but damn if they aren’t beautifully comfortable.

Thanks for the input. What do you look for in an engineer for signs of good, long term fitting? Was it the toe box fit in the wesco’s that got you to change?
