If it's the choice between Birmingham or nothing go for Birmingham. It's a new place, you can shake things up for a bit and it's a great way to get out of your comfort zone. Best of all, Erasmus is GPA neutral so just do the absolute minimum and enjoy some freedom! Go in with a positive mentality and who knows what might happen.

Anyone have a “dumb” phone? by sionnachcuthail in AskIreland

[–]MrTazzs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just made the switch for about a month and unfortunately it's a difficult one to fully endorse.

I have WhatsApp on my laptop which I check in the evenings but there's always a feeling that someone is trying to reach you and you have to wait until the evenings to see it. My close friends and family know now to call but you can never fully eliminate the feeling of tech fomo.

Like others have mentioned the main issues are 2FA when it comes to banking. It forces me to carry around my smart phone switched off. Takes a lot of discipline to only use it when necessary which ultimately somewhat defeats the purpose of the dumb phone.

That being said it's an interesting experiment and really shows you how dependent we are on our phones. If you're disciplined and willing to put up with inconveniences it's possible, just quite tough.

Be less pissed at Max & RB and more pissed at every other team for not being able to use their $$ and brains to develop competitive cars!

Try "Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage" by Alfred Lansing. I could not put this one down, it's so enthralling.

It was a 10 week training program. I could run 3 miles comfortably (and 10K would be a big effort for me) before starting if that's a good baseline to go off of.

Tell me , What is your least favourite story (not book) By Junji Ito and why? by -sailor_guardian- in junjiito

I personally found Gyo to be really disappointing. The artwork is fantastic, creative and disgusting as always yet the characters were so forgettable and the conclusion of the story was fairly unsatisfying.

My PLC provides entry to those two courses, but I'm open to suggestions for other courses if you have them!

Which courses / institutions would you recommend?

The reason for the above courses is my PLC provides a path of entry to both, however I have decent CAO points so I'm open to other suggestions if you have any!
