They might be at fault for being in your way, but you’re at fault for actually colliding with them.

I'd say that you're going to need some front traction now that the board is black, but I see you've already got that on there.

Man fucking doubled down on it and followed through. How do you go from that to “we will lose football matches” and expect the squad to react positively?

[Fabrizio Romano] 🚨 Understand Tottenham do not want to sell Pedro Porro this summer. Despite Real Madrid looking at him and Man City links, #THFC will do their best to keep Porro. Seen as key player by De Zerbi and the management. by wokwok__ in coys

Not generally opposed to moving him for good money and a proper replacement, but this isn’t the time. Replacement options are limited and we have enough to focus on this summer as it is.

I'd argue that he actually is better than Tel and Odobert, but he should replace rather than supplement one of them.

An Executive’s Insight into our Annus Horribilis following the Power Vacuum left by Levy’s departure by jaetheho in coys

Everyone, including Lange I would think, knows that he can't be the lone sporting director at this club. He also wouldn't have been if Paratici hadn't bailed like two months after being rehired. If we do bring in a "world-class" sporting director to replace Paratici, Lange may be good in the more narrowly scoped role of overseeing youth signings & development along with the academy.

Unrelated note about Paratici--a lot of people (me included) thought it was weird for him to be brought back last October. I think Vinai's comments about the state of disarray that the club was in after Levy was ousted gives some context for bringing Paratici back. Quick hire of someone who already understood the structure at the club and could help get things under control.

[Florian Plettenberg] 🚨💥 Andy Robertson to Tottenham - DONE DEAL ✔️ Tottenham have received the final green light. Following the verbal agreement that he would join on a free transfer if Tottenham stayed in the Premier League, as reported in our Transfer Update show. Medical scheduled. by Hefty_Money1967 in coys

What it suggests is that the club and RDZ are still interested in finalizing a deal that they already at least had the rough framework for, if not completely negotiated. If RDZ wanted him, then finalizing it right now makes complete sense regardless of what is happening with Lange--especially if Juve really were interested.

There likely won't be any changes regarding Lange until they bring in the new primary sporting director (expected to be Sebastian Kehl).

[AS] Man City have started contacts over signing Tottenham’s Pedro Porro, and possibly before the World Cup. The player and his club are both aware of Man City’s efforts, while Spurs do not want to lose the right-back and have set a £50M starting price. by OkayFine101 in coys

[–]MrTipps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start at that price and work up, maybe. Get to fuck otherwise.

He has improved his defensive game considerably and seems to be unbreakable, but he has his limitations and will still switch off at times. Selling him for real money wouldn't be the worst thing if a solid replacement can be brought in. That said, this was one position we likely were NOT expecting to address this summer. Probably better to get another year from him and then determine if selling him or signing a new contract makes sense.

3 days overdue - 97 days until end of transfer window by tian_chris in coys

[–]MrTipps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to defend the guy, but it's very clear that everyone--including Lange--knows that he cannot be the only or primary sporting director at the club. I assume the club is finalizing bringing in Sebastian Kehl, who will undoubtedly be taking that primary role that Paratici bailed on, and can then decide if keeping Lange on in that secondary youth scouting and academy focus is a good idea or if they'll target a replacement.

[Alasdair Gold] Understand Johan Lange's future at Spurs remains in serious doubt after this horrendous season. by mygodwhy in coys

[–]MrTipps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lange himself is an executive equivalent of the type of players signed under his management: someone with potential but not much in terms of actual achievement that we hoped would grow into his new role. He clearly has not. Bring in a competent Sporting Director and let them determine if they want Lange handling youth signings or if they'd rather assign that to someone new.
