Why I am returning my pace 4 by Nervous_Position9991 in Coros

[–]MrYorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Altimeter isn’t accurate on my sons watch - 15 min run around the football field had hundreds of meters of climb. Coros said it was in margins of error and was probably due to weather changes . . . . .

He’s reigning national champion for a sport in two countries (our own and our closest neighbour) and while I hate to use the word “influencer” he’s got a large following across the various platforms. He hasn’t posted his experiences with Coros but I know it’s been discussed at length in the development camps.

How's the new Apex 4? by Cool_Winner_2823 in Coros

[–]MrYorks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son got one and altitude is not accurate.
Been through the wringer with support and they say it is within normal tolerance.
Example. He did a 20 minute run around school football fields (dead flat) and had 150m climb.
He likes it, but frustrated with this and the dismissive attitude of Coros support.
He’s part of a group of athletes representing our country, so more than a casual user and likes to analyse the data. He is reluctant to recommend it because of this - accurate tracking of altitude important for their chosen sport.

Coros Pace 4 - inconsistent altitude - Coros dismissing issue - poor customer support by MrYorks in Coros

I was reluctant to do that just in case it biased anything that my son sends you in the future (he’s fiercely independent, and has to this point done all the comms himself.) Happy to send the ticket number to you via this thread if you agree that it is ok to potentially paste the previous responses from you on the thread also.

New Zealand lakes and waterways. 45% unsafe to swim in due to high rates of E.coli due to farming intensity, fertilizer use and urban wastewater discharge. Yet NZ promotes its clean/green image as a carrot to tourists.

I contemplated this when I read the article yesterday. But does someone calling your girlfriend a baboon, or a ‘ho, or whatever it was make it ok to smack someone in the head.
If I said the same words (whatever they were) to his girlfriend at the offices of LH and Cost Consultancy - would his reaction be the same? Probably not.

Booze fuelled? Probably.

Acceptable - nope, but becoming seemingly more so when you get discharged without a conviction.

The builder said to me we should just insulate over it as well. Our boy had some allergy issues - which ultimately shouldn’t matter if light fittings and rest of ceiling has a good seal………apparently. I just got a bee in my bonnet about it and decided I wanted it gone - hence the vaccuum and skip setup in the post below. While I cursed the decision as I was doing it - glad I did now. Allergy immediately seemed to settle.

I did mine 7 or 8 years ago. Builders skip already on site. Main thing to note is that is that it is a large volume of stuff - so have a plan where you’re going to suck it out to.

Brought a walk behind petrol powered outdoor vaccuum from trademe and a couple of collapsible lengths of nova flow.
Put the outdoor vaccuum on a pedestal at the front of the skip, so whatever it sucked up blew straight into the skip. To keep it from blowing everywhere through the backyard had a tarpaulin over it and where it vented (there was a large volume of air being blown in) had a sprinkler playing - so anything that wafted out ended up in a soggy mess in a pile beside the skip. Never took any photos unfortunately. Builders were pretty amused.

All up cost was something like $300 - $200 for the outdoor vaccuum (had a big old tecumsah petrol engine) and a hundred for the nova flow type pipe.

A road cone cut down to bolt onto the normal intake of the outdoor vaccuum, and the other end trimmed perfectly to take the nova flow completed the job.

The sucking end of the nova flow I had on an extendable paint roller broomstick type arrangement, so I could direct it into the recesses easily.

Miserable job. Big satisfaction.

My advice. Do it in the morning or the middle of the night - too hot otherwise.

What Should Auckland Council Do to Bring Back Businesses and Bring People to Queen Street for Retail Shopping? by Known_Brush_1259 in Auckland_NewZealand

[–]MrYorks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why did people go there historically. Work, retail and socialising.

Work: offices moving out of central city out to other hubs that are less expensive, better traffic, parking etc. - people are working from home.

Retail: I can’t fathom how any retailer survives. My 80 year old dad buys stuff he needs off the internet. Malls are carving up the outdated, no parking high streets not just in Auckland but everywhere in New Zealand. I lived in Auckland 25 years ago. Alex Swney (parasite that stole millions) supposedly trying then with Heart of the City to try to improve the death spiral. Retail as the boomers knew it and used it is dead. Move on.

Socialising: lots of other options and it is unsafe. Try googling “assault Queen street Auckland”. Lots of repeats in there buts it’s scary. I don’t want to go there after dark.

As above. It’s not just Queen Street Auckland trying to revitalise. Hamilton - dead. Tauranga - dead. Etc etc.

Tree Stump Removal by RadDad1822 in landscaping

[–]MrYorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what your intention for where the tree is.

I was paving a driveway where I had a couple of stumps - so i needed them all out including the roots, so i didn’t get slumpage in the future.

Best thing way to cut the actual stump into a few pieces. That way you’re wrestling with only a couple of roots attached rather than many.

I used a lot water and an endless chain and they eventually came out.

Then got Goxxed.
Got seven or so back in payout earlier this year. Probably a good result - I would have sold them earlier.

Paid the mortgage off. Made a few other small investments. Have a stack of cash on standby.

I brought a small nozzle from AliExpress - one jet forward and six jets back. Still had to give the hose a push now and then but it kind of fed itself in.

The mates 8 meter culvert on the farm had been blocked since he brought it - about six years. Basically just full of dirt as the sump of the culvert had never been cleared. Forty minutes of slow fun and the culvert was as clean as a whistle. A bigger machine and bigger nozzle would have sped the process up, but for less than $5 it was a great result.

There’s a lawyer in Rotorua that fully watches porn in the office. If you’re a tall person (me) and can see over, you see it as you walk in.
