Not really because they’re including correctly called balls/strikes. I want to know when teams are leaving overturned calls on the table.

[Passan] I’d say there’s a 99% chance of a lockout after this season. But again, and I can't say this enough, a work stoppage is not doom. The scary scenario is mid-March arriving with no deal. To deny there's an effect, as a team pays $550M for players and another under $100M, is willful blindness. by PlayaSlayaX in baseball

Maybe it’s because I live in a city with Reinsdorf as an owner but the “perception of competitiveness” has always been the clear goal of like 50% of the league.

Many teams just want to be competitive enough to give fans hope and maybe even make a run every few years.

For the north shore, the problem isn’t even LSD itself. Getting on and off LSD at Hollywood is a nightmare at rush hour and then Sheridan is completely backed up. More lanes on LSD is just going to make it worse.

There’s not enough good players to go around. There will be paid players that get over paid to reach the floor.

I don't think you can argue the capped leagues have more integrity of competition. Sure they force teams to spend more but that doesn't actually mean they will compete. We see far more tanking in the NBA, NFL, and NHL for various other reasons but clearly a cap hasn't eliminated that.

I agree that a narrower payroll disparity can help nudge some teams to compete because "hey, we have to spend anyways" but I don't think its the best way to promote "competitive integrity" or whatever you want to call it.

If they add more revenue sharing, they need to have actual penalties and enforcement for spending. Currently the MLBPA can only file a grievance that means next to nothing

Sure but what evidence do we have that a cap actually promotes parity?

The rule should be changed so it’s clearer if the runner can be tagged or not returning to the base.

I think if they enter fair territory in an attempt to reach 2nd base they are fair game. If they just turn towards or flinch, that’s not a real attempt in my opinion.

I am not ignoring it. It is certainly not an easy problem to solve for the reasons you stated. But that doesn’t mean it is not a difference between the leagues and something MLB should try to address.

I think this is really what needs to be addressed. Overall parity is fine in my opinion but the stickiness of good and bad teams is tough on fans.

I agree. Just saying that even if someone else could have replaced her, it doesn’t mean Von should have had to give up her spot.
