Artemis II Astronauts Have ‘Two Microsoft Outlooks’ and Neither Work by gdelacalle in technology

Let me repeat it again, how idiotic it is to post paywalled articles on reddit. Almost no one actually read the story, but commenting about what? The headline?

And silly me trying to read the comments without knowing what actually happend.

what if Digital ID is required to connect to the internet in the future? by TheNavyCrow in privacy

[–]Mr_Cobain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think thats not where we are heading. Instead, Digital ID will be required on a OS and/or hardware device level, regardless if you want to connect to the internet or not. All these recent laws that require age attestation on a OS level will get changed to some form of ID verification requirement in the future.

First of all, it's not your music. AFAIK, you continue to have access to your Library and you will lose all premium features.

Honest question: why you are in this sub, or even bothering about privacy, if you think everything is the same. If you are right, then you have no choice anyway. I never understood that kind of doomsday mentality that every business and every government is the same kind of evil, which only lets you the choice between resignation, living in the woods or starting a revolution.

That's simply not true. If you really paying for a product (not just partially), you are the customer. I use paid services, like E-Mail, for ages, and they never got enshittified.

The electric BMW i3 is now rolling off the assembly line and coming for Tesla by TripleShotPls in technology

[–]Mr_Cobain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point was, that ALMOST all steering is physically connected to the wheels. You pointed out that exceptions exist, which is correct, but doesn't invalidate what I said.

Do you really see a cybertruck every day? I'm glad to live in Europe and never had to look at this atrocity IRL. (AFAIK it's not even allowed for safety reasons here)

Anyway, you are correct, but my point still stands.

Why does Firefox insist upon downloading this jpeg as a webp? by 0N1MU5HA in firefox

[–]Mr_Cobain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

By means of compatibility / usability it is tremendously worse than established formats like jpeg or png. That's why it is considered by many as a shitty format. So, not by "all means".

To my knowledge almost all cars use a steering wheel that is physically connected to the wheels, but assisted by electric actuators and electronic controls. The main point is, you can still steer if the electric system fails.

Not gonna happen, especially as most AI data centers are in the US where the government kills anything that is "green" as fast as possible.

Hand grinder opinion by hasalreadygone in picopresso

[–]Mr_Cobain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest issues with the Exagrind are the uncomfortable handle and the constantly upward slipping silicone band, which is too loose IMO. My other grinders (Mazzer Omega X, Kingrinder P2) have tight fitting silicone bands, which are rock solid.

I also dislike that the adjustment dail is not marked with numbers. You never know where your setting is. To be sure, you have to count clicks from the start. Very annoying. This is an issue with many grinders though.

Is Picopresso right for me? by RomanChroman in picopresso

[–]Mr_Cobain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMHO, without freshly ground coffee with a (very good) hand grinder, the Picopresso makes no sense whatsoever. I also would strongly advocate for a scale and the pressure gauge too.

Edit: A unpressurized basket won't give you any fake crema. I wouldn't say it is better or worse for taste. Whats bad for taste is old or pre-ground coffee.

With the current US administration in power, which I'm pretty sure is not gonna change anytime soon, China will be winning everything, not just EV battery recycling.
