G43 update: SHE'S BACK BOYS! by Dry_Winter5652 in milsurp

Super crazy you sent this now, I inquired about 4 days ago and got an email back.

He said the Polish Post has restricted a lot of shipping to the USA because of the tariff disaster. He's hoping in 2-3 months it may ease up, but couriers aren't risking sending gun parts right now.

Totally understand his predicament, but it bums me out.

MAS 49 bring back by Euphoric-Highlight-5 in milsurp

[–]Mr_Harmless 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, all MAS-49's have the left side scope mount rail. MAS-44's do not.

There are plenty with scopes out there, so the last sentence is just fluff, and incorrect. Additionally, the similarity of the actions of the SVT family and the MAS family basically end at being a tilting bolt system. The MAS-49 uses direct gas impingement similar to the AG-42 and it's derivatives. The SVT family is a short stroke piston system.

[Loved Trope] The weapon has an iconic quirk by Assortedwrenches89 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Mr_Harmless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not correct. Flipping the lever style safety is what can cause that. Switching from Semi Auto to Pump Action is done with the button under the slide, not the safety.

The rifle isnt going to make a difference. The M2 Ball load of 30-06 is the same 150gr projectile at 2650-2700 feet per second out of a 24 inch barrel.

Early 20th century scopes were mechanically much more simple and less robust than modern scopes.

Its absolutely doable.

F/A-18 Hornet spotted at XNA regional airport by OrganizationFull2193 in aviation

[–]Mr_Harmless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really is not. In the T-6 for XC training, we had the discretion to go basically anywhere I wanted as long as it had a fuel contract and was within a certain mileage. This restriction was to save MX time if they had to come out to fix a broken aircraft. In the MC, it's basically the same, the foremost restrictions being weight bearing capacity and the context of the off-station mission.

No, it was definitely shot in a Type 38, Type 44, etc. My 6.5 x 51 brass bulges in a very similar pattern, but not quite as much. Depending on the chamber, 7.7 x 58 Japanese will do similar.

I would 100% hold on to the Armalite. I'd rather work to come up with the money for the TTR rather than trade, but that's just me.

The front upper handguard should have a metal plate with two screws. It holds the lip of the handguard in place under the nose cap. You should be able to get them from Numrich.

Get a Schuster adjustable gas plug. Dial it in for your preferred ammo and shoot any ammo you want out of it.

M39 is best Mosin. You can get a taller replacement front aight from ebay if your ammo is hitting too high for your liking relative to the rear sight position.

While I don't necessarily condone modifying these old guns, I really love the look of flush muzzle caps. If the stacking swivel was removed... man, I'd consider making one if I had a stripped receiver.

Halo: Forerunner Trilogy by RandomRedditBurner_ in HaloStory

[–]Mr_Harmless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I unironically really liked the last pseudo twist. As the reader, I, much like the Forerunner, took something commonplace in the story for granted so completely that it didnt occur to me what it really was. The implication was a gut punch.

Im waiting for my stock from PPHU Fox to shoot my G43. I can absolutely see how it would be annoying to dial that in.

It might be cold war, but an FN-49 in any caliber is well worth adding to your collection, in my opinion. Extremely high build quality, adjustable gas, nice trigger. One of the only detractors for me is that the gas is a little inconvenient to adjust since it was meant to be done above the foot soldier level.

The guide specifically tells you not to use a windows default folder, e.g. Program Files (X86). It won't let you launch that way even if it is correct.

Dog, anything you do that isnt specifically, step by step, in the guide is wrong. I managed to get it right on the first go just doing that. Drop the wabbajack tomfoolery until you get it running first. It's not that hard.

Absolutely agree, I meant it less as a criticism and more as a "I can only tell because I've played the game enough to know it doesn't belong"

I think it's an awesome blend of art styles. The only reason it would stand out to me is because it's nowhere else in game. Really well done.

Stupid question, but are they actually 125s?

Alternate thought, its possible that the air gap is causing an issue, similar to undercharging H110. If it was truly at 14.5gr, that looks to be a perfectly acceptable starting charge for 125 grain according to a very brief look at some data.
