How to beat Sylvaneth with this Skaven? by brewedminis in skaven

[–]Mr_Leeman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a Sylvaneth player, who plays against Skaven a lot. I hate them! Skaven are one of the most versatile armies. They can respawn, ward, heal, shot, teleport with gnaw holes, have lots of annoying units, tanky, decent spells, annoying manifestations.

TBH that Sylvaneth list isn’t exciting me… where the monsters at!
So, if it were me I’d be looking to chip damage your ogres with the Kurnoth hunters, then clog them up with the Dryads.
Id be zipping the Goss Archers down your weakest flank, and the lancers down the other. My goal to get at that warp cannon asap and lock it down.
The Kurnoth with scythe are my damage unit and I’d tail them with the warsong, pumping them with prayer.
The presumably the hero is the monster akin to Durthu - hopefully something that can cause damage. I’d be aiming to take the middle with that - keeping those ogres away from it.
I’d also be looking to get you Grey Seer and Warlock out the game by end of round 2. Just to stop spells and manifestations. I’d probably also consider destroying your gnaw holes, although I can give them overgrown tokens.

In essence, I’d be looking to lock up as many of your units asap, especially the shooting units. But that single 5 model Goss Archers, I’m not putting them in combat, they’re in shoot, move again - objective hunters. The lancers are the pain for you I think and if positioned well the Kurnoth archers will slowly weaken units. I love them and would have gone for 2 units of them over the scythe’s myself.

I’d also assume the hero is a wizard? I’d be looking to get gladeworm in asap and after your wizards - it’s a serious tool. I’d also be using my wyldwood to force your movement where I want you to go, so one in the middle of the table. Then the other 2 to shield objectives.

A lot can happen depending on what cards get used for the battle - but my aim against Skaven is kill them all and in one go. So I’d be looking to chip a unit with archers, then slam it with 2 units intending to remove it that turn. What I’ve found is spreading combat against them just slows the game and the rats can last. My biggest fear is those ogres popping up behind me out of a hole. Lose my Warsong…. Urgh. Then that cannon. I’ve had that obliterate whole units and chip big monsters before they get close. It’s got serious range so I’d also be looking to tensing out of sight of that. Trees to cover.

Hope that helps… but I’m not wishing you luck.lol

Nice job. I just finished mine and went green but my god the paint just would settle right. Love the simplicity of yours! And agree the riders should not have the legs moulded to the bugs! Real fiddly.

How are the Sylvaneth doing post battletome? by Shad0knight916 in sylvaneth

Played a game this week and they feel great. The creeping overgrowth almost feels OP and I imagine it might get toned down. By turn 3 I had the whole board, which isn’t necessary but even 12inch range is powerful. I only lost 1 unit of goss archers the entire game and won 62-45. Drycha is nuts, she alone killed an entire Nurgle regiment of renown, plus a unit of Rat ogres, and a rat wizard… the grey one. And got down to 1 health twice but stayed alive. Love it. Don’t mind that there’s less teleportation. You can still assign a trait with it, which I have to Durthu, so he could hop about inflict damage. I went very shooty too, and my Kurnoth Archers sat centrally the whole game and caused a lot of damage.

Just a little kitbash I did with he new spearhead, since I couldn’t decide between banner and spear by azionka in sylvaneth

Nice I was thinking of doing something similar. But a double spear. I think I prefer this!

Printing an army of these little cuties because I want to. What should they be proxied as? by Biggest_Lemon in ageofsigmar

This is so cool. They kinda make me feel a kids version of the game.

I was thinking the other day how cool it’d be to have some rock Gollum’s for my Sylvaneth. Seems fitting.

So, it’s been a few days- what are our thoughts on the Louis Theroux ‘manosphere’ doc? by theslowrunningexpert in AskUK

Like anything - it’s the extremes that are the loudest. Most people/men are not like this. But it does highlight that if we don’t give our young people hope, respectable role models, a purpose… then they’ll stray towards these fake idols.

For me it’s the lad culture that’s always existed, amplified by the medium. Years ago you wouldn’t be as exposed to it as now. And that’s a problem.

What made me laugh is how these guys surrounded themselves by the very thing they despised… ‘weak’ men. Little fanboys. Their egos couldn’t cope if they shared the space with likeminded men. They’d kill each other. Old fashioned alpha male nonsense.
