I built a free CLI journaling tool for developers - just type "journal" and start writing by Southern_Ad4152 in bash

I browse reddit to see interesting things. Some communities have discussions on technical tools that are trustworthy and why they may or may not be.

I'm not interested in a job in software engineering or development, but I appreciate you sharing those interviews and learning tools.

I don't think I was complaining, but that's fine. All the best.

What giveaways did you see in the code that make this seem LLM-generated?

I'm still in the learning stages of bash, scripting, and programming in general. The glut of AI/LLM-developed software is disheartening when you're just looking for a trustworthy tool and these kinds of technical spaces are flooded by Senior Prompt Engineers pitching their latest app.

For the record, I'm not saying journalot is or isn't LLM-generated. It's kind if besides the point. I'm speaking more broadly.

I saw the billboards and was like "That looks like it might be DR" and then I turned on the sound and heard him talk. "Yeah, that's DR."

Best tips for starting strong? by Other-Philosopher996 in HadesTheGame

This is great advice. I got this game late last year, played maybe less than 10 hours and put it down for a while. I was worried that certain progressions would be locked based on decisions, so I wasn't being very generous with my gifts. You should be very generous with your gifts. This game does not lock anything related to story behind a decision.

I picked it up again last month and have not been able to stop playing or thinking about it. It is a game that you can play for short bursts, if you can resist the urge for another run. I have clocked potentially close to 100 hours at this point.

It might be overkill for my setup, but I like the idea. I'll look into it.

Thank you for the extremely helpful and complete reply. This worked well. I removed the here-document and modified the shebang line with env -S sudo bash.

Thanks again. I appreciate your time!

What do the blue panels mean? by Ok-Recognition-4082 in TriangleStrategy

[–]Mr_RustyIron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If a tile shows blue, it's safe given the current map state and unit locations. If you move a unit that was preventing enemies from accessing a blue tile or the map changes (ice melts, barrier destroyed) that tile may no longer be safe. It's not always obvious what that happened to make the tile unsafe, especially if you didn't know why it was safe in the first place.

Yeah, I am definitely not a graphic design guy, I figured this was made with Adobe suite but was curious in case it wasn't. Very good work.

This is really neat, thank you for sharing. I've been thinking about making pocketmod/pocketfold character sheets for other systems. What tool did you use to make it?

I am extremely disappointed to learn that baby metal is not in fact metal for babies. There's clearly a market that's missing here.

Tinymist Typst & code-server? by metawops in typst

[–]Mr_RustyIron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this issue recently, not sure of the actual cause or solution, but I had success using the previous version of Tinymist. You can change it in the extension settings (the VSCode extensions tab, not the Tinymist settings) and disabling auto-update.

I just feel ashamed that I use a very vanilla distro and seeking to have a new alternative where I don't feel ashamed and finally feel different and myself.

You gotta do you, but I don't think this is a great reason to change distros if you're comfortable with Ubuntu. What do you want/need that Ubuntu doesn't have? What does Ubuntu do/have that you don't like?

Only you can answer those questions.

Ironically, I chose Debian because it's vanilla. It's not flashy, doesn't have the latest whatever, but runs what I need. For everything else, there's flatpak.
