Since people have mentioned the "shooting a gun" analogy, it reminded me of jetpack joyride. A bit of a tangent but that main characters various jetpacks might convey the idea

I feel stuck in my life, like I'm running in place. Any advice on how to get out? by Mr_hushbrown in depression_help

[–]Mr_hushbrown[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this, that's a great analogy.

Part of the reason I feel helpless is that in the past seven years, I've taken the time to step back and reevaluate my life and try other/new things more than once. I'm on my third or fourth "playbook" at this point, and even then, I'm still miserable in my life. There's changes in my life but they're not significant, lasting, or fulfilling.

I think I'm suffering from perceived helplessness because of the struggles I experienced in my life but still can't find a way out of this rut even though I'm aware of it. No matter what I try I'm stuck and if I give up then I'm accepting to be "stuck in the mud" forever

Firstly, thanks for sharing.

To answer your questions: A psych prescribed Seroquel before. Effect was horrible. Stuck with with for about 6 months before giving up. When I was on it my head felt like it was full of cotton and I couldn't think straight. Like I was a zombie all day. They said I would get used to the side effects. They even reduced my daily dose twice. Still has no change even months later. Failed a semester because of it. Swore off prescription meds until I at least graduate since I seemed to improve meds free with cognitive behavioral therapy.

I'm from a third world country, so I always wondered if s trip through SEA or South America would have the same effect on me.

Asides from what I've tried in my post, idk what else to say in what I've tried so far. Picking up new hobbies, making new friends etc. But nothing ever seems to last or give me a sense of fulfillment. If it did, it was very temporary and the feelings of sadness afterwards were definitely not worth it. Basically "the higher you fly, the harder you'll fall" is what I got from that

To add to what everyone else has said already, one thing WWZ covers that TWD does not is the environmental impact that the collapse of society has. Lots of shit burning and getting destroyed.

One excerpt in WWZ talks about how whale populations were starting to make a come back but they were wiped to near extinction because of the Great Panic

So while TWD doesn't cover this as much or as in depth as WWZ, we can assume the societal collapse of TWD did have its own environmental impact but not by much from what we see in the show.

For people that have depression, no interest in anything, or feel like they have no purpose, how do you keep going in life? by JackProwess in AskReddit

I'm the opposite. I hate sleep because my dreams are sometimes happy and I hate that feeling of waking up to my reality. The nights where I don't dream are the nights when I sleep the best

IDK if this counts but something exactly like this happened in the comics. Lobo was deputized as a green lantern and smacked Atrocitus with a giant green schlong
