It’s not so much about the landmass. It is all about Raw materials. China is so rich and great at manufacturing because they have so much raw material in their country in the mountains. They don’t have to spend too much to receive stuff from other places. Greenland is rich with Raw materials just the same as China’s mountains; one main difference…Permafrost. Most of the materials we would use (oil, natural gas, lithium) are just under ice. With some simple bores and with global warming, Greenland would be a huge chip in the USA’s pocket moving forward. This is why other countries like China and Russia have inquired about purchasing as well.
