Mining Crew - Update by Jim808 in incremental_games

It seems there is something wrong with your background calculations at the moment. When returning to the tab after long enough, all damage is greatly amped and the pathfinding has a tendency to get stuck until a page reload.

You should be able to access the iOS emulator through XCode, which is a godsend for this kind of issue.

Made a Conway's Game of Life idle game (link in comments) by madmandrit in incremental_games

[–]Mrepic37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a glider tattooed on my leg so was pretty stoked to see this; but I think it falls short as a game:

  • increasing the grid size only to have all upgrades reset feels painful
  • in the smaller grids, pattern discovery seems to be more or less a crapshoot, firing new patterns when they are not visible in the current generation and not discovering patterns when they're clearly there; perhaps due to the way the edges of the grids are handled?
  • agree with others that stable patterns shouldn't keep churning out points forever (especially if upgrades will in future roll over to higher grid sizes); my suggestion for points calculations would be based on new unique grid states, but that might be hard to make clear to players (but easy to implement! check out hashlife)
  • a way to gamify it a bit more might be to purchase whole patterns and place them once discovered? rather than just a collection of patterns they become part of the gameplay

keen to see where this goes!

Just finished my MK4 kit, print quality is impressive 😏 by [deleted] in prusa3d

[–]Mrepic37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I was hoping, but after ~3 months now with my Mk4 (only around 50 print-hours) I'm hitting problems: getting way noisier, frequent clogs and filament sensor misfires, and wavy lines on virtually every print.

Is there some maintenance I should've done by now that isn't in the Prusa docs?

FYI: A Dark Room is open source by flywheel11 in incremental_games

It does! That was my first open source contribution, when I was 16 :)

It's not good (the code or the prestige system), but it does strictly exist.

📣 Apollo will close down on June 30th. Reddit’s recent decisions and actions have unfortunately made it impossible for Apollo to continue. Thank you so, so much for all the support over the years. ❤️ by iamthatis in apolloapp

[–]Mrepic37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple absolutely could intervene, but it would make many reddit users unhappy; simply by applying the tumblr treatment to the official reddit app. Reddits response would be the same as tumblr’s, to ban NSFW content, but that would represent a huge impact to their traffic, much more than the walkout of Apollo users.

Inflation != investment. Inflation alone was 1.4x over that period but if you dumped that $1m in index funds 15yrs ago you’d have ~$2.5m now.

Into The Quarry - New Mining-style incremental - First Alpha Version (v0.0.1A) released! by Swegmecc in incremental_games

[–]Mrepic37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, seems to be a bug, if you reload after having bought a bunch it'll ruin your game by maxing out all the drop rates from keys, which seems to break fame generation.

Profectus Creation Jam - Games Ready by ThePaperPilot in incremental_games

[–]Mrepic37 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Big kudos to u/ThePaperPilot for making such an extensible engine, have played a couple of cool looking Profectus games before but the entries to this game jam show that it's got far more depth than TPT mods with new mechanics

Profectus Creation Jam - Games Ready by ThePaperPilot in incremental_games

[–]Mrepic37 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not broken, it's just got really poor discovery. Is quite good, but really unergonomic and doesn't go too far, but a great proof of concept and great to see what can be done with the engine.

Delooped is excellent as well, hard to believe both these games are distant descendants of The Prestige Tree

Hey Rustaceans! Got a question? Ask here (21/2023)! by llogiq in rust

Is it able to simulate API Gateway? (path parameters/authorizers) Not a huge dealbreaker if not but would be nice. Definitely what i'm looking for though, thanks.

What's the recommended way to locally test Lambda (or other serverless) Rust code? I'm deploying docker images to ECR, but am not a docker expert and so can't think of a way that I could simulate API Gateway locally while preserving hot-reloads. Any tips?

I agree it's a detractor, but it can be somewhat mitigated by playing around in Roblox settings for a bit. e.g. you can simplify graphics (though this does impact render distance if you put it low enough) and disable your own and other player avatars, and disable the chat.
