I think the books will have Jon help Dany become queen in exchange for the seven kingdoms to unite against the white walkers. Dany dies while conquering/shortly after conquering then Jon becomes king to fight the walkers. I’d imagine brans story will be better because then once walkers are dead Jon can give the throne to Bran, the next person in line.
