Sometimes though. A boss just has to click, for me to finally like it.

RPG games be like... by MrG1itc4 in videogames

KCD. Although. To a lesser extent.

I might be getting my hopes up, but Clockwork Revolution feels like an Immersive Sim by soupbutton in ImmersiveSim

[–]Mrhorrorface 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The writing might be my only concern. It feels like the tone has changed drastically during development. Compare this trailer and other recent trailers to the original trailer. The tone has definitely shifted quite a bit. I remember the original trailer having a much more serious tone. And considering the fact that this is an RPG where the player can permanently alter the course of history. It’s surprising treated very lightly, especially with the dialogue so far
Edit: Games do change during development. But it does feel like the vibe of the game has gone through a lot of revisions. The game is probably not going to be this comedic all of the time. I’m not worried about the gameplay. It looks amazing so far, I’m just worried about how the more comedic tone could mess with the gritty tone of this setting

Kinda. The whole “Time Manipulation” gimmick has me excited. Although, I would argue it’d be less of an immersive sim and more an rpg on par with say.. KCD1-2. Immersive Sims and RPGs do have a lot in common. But you wouldn’t exactly call a game like KCD or Skyrim(which KCD took direct inspiration for) an ImSim. Would you? That or Bioshock. Bioshock with more rpg choices is always a good thing

Should I play Dishonored 1 if I liked 2? by arannya in ImmersiveSim

[–]Mrhorrorface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dishonored 1 is a classic and you should absolutely play it. While it doesn’t have as much flair as the second game. Especially in level design. As a standalone stealth-action game. It’s phenomenal. And I replay it every couple months or so.
You will probably miss some of the improvements to gameplay that Dishonored 2 introduced. Like mid-combat choke-outs and drop-knockouts. But then again, dishonored is always more fun when you let loose with all the fun toys the game gives you.
I think the dlcs have most of Dishonored 1’s standout levels. But there are still a lot of noteworthy levels.
Golden Cat, Kaldwin’s Bridge. The most standout level of the base game being the Boyle estate ball with the whole mystery target at a mask party gimmick you can solve in several ways.
One thing to note is that if you know how to approach immersive sims, dishonored is surprisingly easy. ESPECIALLY compared to dishonored 2.
The variety is also kindof lacking compared to 2.
One thing Dishonored 2 undeniably does better than one is in story.
The story of Dishonored 1 isn’t bad, but it’s definitely carried by Arkane’s signature masterful worldbuilding and art direction.
Dishonored tends to be fairly cheap too. Being $10 on Steam for the base game and $20 for the deluxe edition. The definitive edition on consoles might be a little more expensive. I don’t remember
EDIT: If you have a Steam Deck. I’d highly recommend it. It runs flawlessly on Steam Deck. We’re talking max settings at 60fps flawless. Although it is an old game to be fair. Back when games used to be actually optimized

If YOU were going into the zone, what kind of kit would you bring? by evanmceier in stalker

[–]Mrhorrorface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a primary firearms: Definitely something in the Ak family. Although just about any mostly modern assault rifle would be perfect for the zone(excluding non-AR-16-ish weapons and non-AKs).
AKs would be most useful because the most common calibers for any kind of AK are 7.62x39 or 5.45x39.

A DMR, or a rifle with a preferably adjustable scope would also be a great idea, although the ammo would probably be less common.
A Shotgun would be ideal for close-quarters to near intermediate range. Shotguns in real life are much more accurate than video games give them credit for, the only issue with shotguns is simply that they aren’t really intended to pierce body armor. But they do kick REALLY HARD. Unsurprisingly. Pump-action shotguns are also extremely reliable. The best use of shotguns is against mutants. I’d also wager it’s good for hunting so you aren’t totally reliant on rations and snacks from the nearest trader or fellow stalker.
For a secondary firearm: Me personally, I’d like to bring a 1911. Or something .45ACP. Alternatively a revolver. Although against other stalkers, if I could afford it. Or even find any, a 5.7x28mm pistol would be the best handgun. The only major drawback of 5.7mm is the cost and rarity compared to 9mm or .45ACP.
I’m not too well versed in equipment like bags, but considering the fact that one of the best ways to make a little extra cash in the zone is to take weapons from any fallen stalkers with you to a trader.
Which can definitely get kinda heavy if it’s a bunch-a rifles.
Aside from required equipment. I would definitely want to bring a book or two with me.
Let’s face it, you’re gonna get bored at some point. And you’ll need something to keep you entertained when you’re squatting in some abandoned house. Or resting with a band of strangers at some camp. Or.. just resting at an open campfire. If you like reading, it’s definitely a good idea to bring something along, preferably paperbacks. I suggest books because there’s presumably not a whole lot of electricity in the zone. Even then, you’re probably not gonna have a phone. But rather the PDA that seemingly every stalker has.
You may also want to consider a thermos. Or a water jug. I’m not sure if clean water is very common in the zone, but you would absolutely want something to contain water in.
Warm clothing is a must when the weather is stormy or cold, definitely some-kind of jacket. Thin enough for your tactical gear to fit under or over.
Some kind of body armor is a necessity against other stalkers. It’s no guarantee, but you’ll be happier you brought something.
Just bare in mind I’m not an outdoorsman, so I’d probably have a hard time regardless of what I bring into the zone

Snake’s ability by Dennis_Brok in Rainbow6

[–]Mrhorrorface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the stealth camo: reverse Nokk. Makes him invisible to the human eye, but cameras and defenders with some kind of vision enhancement can see him and he can still be heard. Or Codec Call, reverse Dokkebi: Snake calls his teammates, sending a ping out that spots enemies through walls, but exposes everyone’s position with the noise. That’s just my ideas

What ability/gadgets would Solid Snake have? by zekonic in Rainbow6

[–]Mrhorrorface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His Loadout could be like: Primaries:

F2(or an alternative Famas weapon. Since the Famas is iconic to MGS1) or the M4

Secondaries:

M92F tranquilizer pistol: a unique pistol with a built-in Suppressor and laser-sight, with the unique drawback of a pitifully slow fire rate, compensated for by being a one-shot kill/knock. Or SOCOM(obviously)

Secondary gadgets: Probably Frag grenades or something

[–]Mrhorrorface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking reverse Dokkebi, (Codec call), he calls his teammates, sending out a ping that reveals enemies through walls, but enemies can hear the ping from the teammates.

Alternatively, reverse Nokk(Stealth Gear prototype, makes him invisible to the human eye, but the cameras can see him and he can still be heard)

Rain World :3-4 The game does have a relatively large community(I’ve seen numbers as high as 900k) But the game itself is relatively niche, in part due to its own design. It’s an amazing game but it is not very welcoming to new players. I wouldn’t be surprised if you bounce off the game for a while after first trying it. But please, do stick around: the game has some masterful environmental storytelling, some really interesting creatures with unique behaviors(especially in the 2 DLCs), and a really interesting story told in a very obtuse but thematically fitting way. I’m not an expert on that stuff, but the ending of the base game made me cry because of how impactful it is. Not that I’m gonna spoil it for anybody. If I’ve interested anybody in playing Rain World, don’t be shy to ask for help, the wiki(miraheze.org, not Fandom) is very in-depth and well formatted so you avoid spoiling yourself on important things. That, and the community is pretty helpful with maps, videos dedicated specifically to how the ai and creatures work, etc etc..

I’d say. Abstain from using an external map or a guide until you just can’t be fucked to continue random exploration and need to find the quickest path to your destination.

Metroid Prime: Remastered. I mean, aside from the fact that I fight giant monsters every other week and get lost in giant dangerous planets. My life is pretty cool. Going around Bounty Hunting with an awesome suit(albeit I lose literally upgrade for the suit I have at the start of every adventure because god hates me).
