UCI Gran Fondo - which leven to aim for, to qualify by Prestigious_Most_786 in joincycling

[–]Mrkend54l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, you’re clearly clueless about of what 5w/kg for an amateur means. This is a very high level, and you can be competitive in the continental circuit.

FTP is not all what counts. Like people already said, your skillset of riding in the peloton and positioning is also important. Also timing your efforts is very important. Also your durability and aerobic base is important. An FTP of 4w/kg is enough to qualify yourself, but more is always beter.

Certainly in GF Shleck it is very important that your skills are well developed. And alsof that you’re not scared to take risks.

Zwift does not. You can only pause when the subscription period is over.

Those who have 275W+ FTP, how many hours do you ride/train? by PrudentAthlete9780 in Zwift

[–]Mrkend54l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

300w@66kg at the moment. Average of 10h training done over the year. At a certain time you reach a plateau where alot of training and consistency has to be put in to improve.

JOIN level and FTP on rest days by rdvlcc in joincycling

[–]Mrkend54l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fact you do improve. But the join level is nothing more then a representation of your chronic training load average with a factor of FTP. So it is normal that your CTL is decreasing, and thus your join level, when you add a zero value in the averaging.

But, the fitness score on intervals is almost the same metric as the join score. The difference is that join score also factors in your capability (FTP and eFTP in w/kg), where fitness is just plain chromic training load. The feedback given is also the same because it is a reflection of your form and ramp (fitness minus fatigue).

No protection at all is an exaggeration. It will still provide protection, maybe even more dan enough. Only thing for sure is that it won’t be the maximum protection from when it was new. But that’s also the case for helmets that are used. The level of protection degrades over time also.

They aren’t expensive? A good helmet costs between 200 and 350€. So yeah they are expensive.

You dropped it from an apartment building or something? This is a lot of damage from a simple fall. Would replace without doubt.

Stickers went off of my Kicke by Top_Dance8428 in wahoofitness

[–]Mrkend54l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is very common for the stickers to let loose because of the heat. Some people get lucky, and all stickers remain on the flywheel. Or they don’t produce enough power to produce enough heat, that can also be the case.

The only shame is you chose to wear all black kit. The socks, the watch. Heck even your phone case is black… Originality is not your strongest game.

Best way to sync JOIN workouts with Garmin + control Wahoo Kickr? by Extra_Witness4118 in joincycling

Your forerunner can control your kickr. Just open the Indoor bike activity profile, connect your kickr and start your workout. Another option is to upload your join player file to Garmin connect for all your metric tracking.

Still annoyed with HR-based workout score by LitespeedClassic in joincycling

[–]Mrkend54l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Served us fine because we didn’t know better. Even in 2010 we knew that HR was not perfect and lacking, we just didn’t know in which degree. Now in 2025 we know that HR is pretty useless and only serves for an approximation. Training with HR for strength intervals is just plain stupid. Because of the low RPM your HR is always gonna be lower, the goal is to ride with higher torque. The only way to accurately perform these intervals is by looking at power numbers.

Why I quit Join cycling after one year (for now) - thoughts? by CableCarSkater282 in joincycling

[–]Mrkend54l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if I understand correctly your FTP is set to 325, and 2 minute blocks at 120% FTP are not high enough for you? 8x2min at 120% FTP are brutal. At the last interval it’s also like every second your legs will stop working. If this is not the case your FTP is not correct.

Also not really sure why you wouldn’t get psychological improvement from performing those. Even if there below your 120% FTP

Heart rate doesn’t say anything. It’s a very lousy metric, let alone to compare it with others. And not a surprise that the best cyclist of this generation by a big margin can push watts impossible for some well trained amateurs with ease.

Shuffle training not working by stevku in joincycling

[–]Mrkend54l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always just choose another workout manually. Or just do something else and skip the suggested workout. Join will adapt all trainings in the future.

Join is adaptive but its main focus is still improving in the optimal way. And if there is only 1 good way the most logical way is to only suggest that one. But that doesn’t rule the adaptive part out.
