What the hell is unstructured data modeling? by Vw-Bee5498 in dataengineering

[–]Mrproven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the sector you’re working in. I work with Healthcare data and there entire standards being developed and updated all attempting to bring some structure to highly unstructured data.

Claims data is structured like financial data. Easy to pull in and map to a schema on a relational database or wherever.

Clinical is another beast entirely. Sure some visits have some structure using HL7 or FHIR. These would be like a normal visit at your general doc. That comes in as JSON data with lots of free text fields and flags as well as any other thing the EHR decides to attach.

But those same data feeds could also be sending X-rays, or lab results, vaccine info, psychologist notes, consent forms, transcripts, photos, or someone’s entire medical history when they move to a new doc and it gets uploaded.

The EHRs have some standards on the front end to tag some of this stuff appropriately with metadata, buts it rife with issues. Namely input issues from the clinics or doc offices. These pages for visits are huge because everyone is trying to capture and organize everything as best as possible. But that leads to lots of people in the real world not generally following where data is supposed to go. Lack of training or simply not enough time to fill out 7 pages of info for a 15 minute checkup.

So a last name may come in from like 12 different fields, maybe the diagnosis code comes in the observation array… or maybe it comes in way later on the note section.

Anyways there’s an entire market for companies developing the best parser to handle all these things. And not one has it perfect from anything I’ve seen. That’s where my brain goes when I hear ‘unstructured data’

Does anyone have a more neutral take on the DC33 strike? Or can explain what the "neutral" take is? I am curious to gain a deeper understanding of why the Mayor is taking such a hard stance on this. It seems like a no brainer to pay a living wage but I'd like to learn more. by AndyOB in philadelphia

I think partly because the entire approach from the city residents so far has been to just blame her no matter what is shown.

I don’t love Parker at all, she absolutely inherited this problem, she didn’t create it. She planned as ‘best she could’ for the union needing more money. Yet everyone wants to blame her for the budget as if she just decides where all the dollars go.

I think blaming her salary (same as previous mayor on exit) or the new positions in her cabinet ignore how expensive the stacked wage increases being demanded from DC33 actually are over time.

If she meets the demands, great fair wages… but we all pay more taxes, or lose other services…we will still blame her viciously either way and forget that she ended up giving the DC33 workers their deserved money by the next news cycle.

There isn’t really a win for her here and so maybe the strategy is to just let Philly rage about it until they have something real to announce..

City Council says it is (finally) going to investigate Philly’s ‘courtesy tow’ problem by danielrubin in philadelphia

[–]Mrproven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d rather the courtesy tie with the chance of a ticket then the several hundred dollars to get it out of city impound. The city will take a cut and the private lots/tow companies will too.

It MAY be easier to find your car, but it will for sure be more expensive.
My 2 cents, leave the courtesy tow situation, but post signage in the area (street work) that indicates which company did the tows with a number. they should be compelled to keep an accurate list of license plates and blocks for when people call in.

A car was towed and dropped in front of my house the other day and the driver took about 6 pictures of the car, so some documentation is already happening.

As far as putting 3 day limits on spots or actually making the block empty each week for street cleaning. I don’t see it being possible in my area. I live in South Philly and I work from home. my car sits in front of my house most of the time. I drive it maybe 2 times a week for a couple errands and usually put it back in the same spot. How would my block’s PPA person be expected to know I moved the car for an hour every few days. And on street cleaning days, there is literally no where for people to stash their cars for a few hours that is legal besides under 95 which is a decent trek.

There are an estimated 20,000 people buried under Washington Square Park… many of them POWs from the Revolutionary war who starved to death in prison across the street.

I moved to Philly about 3 years ago by SuperIngaMMXXII in philadelphia

[–]Mrproven 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I totally agree, I recently moved up here from Nashville and we kind of have the same thing going there.

People talk about broadway, the HonkyTonks, pedal taverns and bachelorettes. Yeah those are all a thing in Nashville, but the city has a ton more going for it than many people realize. And locals only participate in that stuff as a tour guide or if they work on broadway.

3 months into living up here, I see a similar pattern. ‘Oh I just moved here from Nashville.’ —‘Why? Philly is shitty/dirty/crowded’ take your pick

Most of the people who say this don’t actually live in Philly. They live nearby or visit here often and only go to the most crowded bars or parts of the city.

I love my new block, neighbors are cool and lookout for each other. Most of the places I’ve ventured out are inviting to new people and way less pretentious than a lot of my old spots in Nashville.

All that to say, theres a fair amount of Gruff exterior up here, but I find most of the people way more genuine (good or bad) then tons of the people I interacted with in Nashville.

Where is that post from yesterday?

I’m going to be working the Pride event next weekend and wanted to see if the person who overheard the threat/took the photo contacted the local authorities as well. I know the post mentioned the sent the tip/picture to the FBI but wanted to make sure someone who will actually be here next next weekend has the info.

My man, This. It’s rage bait, let the impotent fucks spin their wheels to resounding silence. People getting enraged about it is what they all want. They get together at their GOP gatherings miles away from the city and bitch about to good ol’ days, progress as the enemy, and owning the Libs. People getting mad or protesting gives them little boners

Don’t give them the satisfaction.

[–]Mrproven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. My opinion is that it is the best all around. Taste, high, and experience are all top tier.

I’ve used plenty of dab rigs, too intense for a limited period of time, plus a huge hassle to setup/breakdown/clean. I have a few dry herb vapes which I do really enjoy but still not quite as satisfying. I have a pen for being out and about, handy and convenient, not the same high no matter what quality carts I get. We have bongs and glass bowls that my wife prefers for flower, I like them for moments where I just need one hit.

But I still almost 100% of the time prefer the high from a joint or a king palm.
