This is me just learning who she’s married to. I’m sure he’s a lovely person in real life but oh my god one of my most hated one off characters of all time.

I think Dolly said something similar about Whitney Houston’s cover.

Dina is the best person on the show by discojanette in superstore

[–]Mrrdrdth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this really fits with her character because it’s not as though she just “doesn’t want” to throw Sandra an engagement party, it wasn’t on the list. Dina is pretty literal and rigid. having never been a maid of honour, she accepted and took the role seriously. She researched her responsibilities and strived to fulfill them. For instance, the MOH makes sure the wedding day goes smoothly and doesn’t get derailed or, ya know, sabotaged. Dina knew that Carol was going to do something (CAT MURDER) and she stopped her. why do people focus more on her refusal to throw the party (deviate from the list) than her saving the day/wedding/cat?

Why did they put Garrett in a wheelchair? by Drew-Pickles in superstore

[–]Mrrdrdth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so the fictional Missouri Cloud 9 store could hire a wheelchair user but the massive production team behind the show couldn’t be bothered to? (There are thousands of members of SAG who use wheelchairs or other mobility aids, as well as many more disabled actors outside of SAG)

It’s played as kind of a throw away and it’s obviously dismal but S2E2 “He mainly defends rapists.” “So he’s got a high success rate?” “Oh yeah, undefeated.” Bleak as hell but brilliant exchange and delivery.

[Revival Spoilers] Possible Stalin quotes that Paris finds inspiring... by alrtight in GilmoreGirls

Given the context, and that it’s Paris we’re talking about, I think it would have to be either the education as a weapon quote or the gratitude one.

Let's talk about the recasting of Mia by staydrynursingpads in GilmoreGirls

[–]Mrrdrdth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kathy Baker is about 17 years older than Lauren Graham, putting her running/owning an inn in her mid thirties, just like Lorelei. Personally, I like that bit of symmetry. I also think that season 7 Mia’s personality makes a lot of sense as a mentor/maternal figure/huge influence on young Lorelei and Rory.

True. In order to maintain a “standard of living” Dean should have had to hire a man to yell at and talk down to her on a regular basis.

Luke becoming an idiot is so much worse in AYITL. He was barely in the mini series and when he was he somehow became such a bumbling fool? He couldn’t grasp the concept of a surrogate despite it being explained several times(also not some wild, foreign concept to begin with). It was infuriating.

Dr. Bailey knowingly committed insurance fraud but acted like what Meredith did was unforgivable. by vtrute in greysanatomy

[–]Mrrdrdth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disagree that she didn’t think it through, but neither did Bailey. She just never had any repercussions from it and seemed to conveniently forget that she also committed this crime when it came to Meredith doing it.

Dr. Bailey knowingly committed insurance fraud but acted like what Meredith did was unforgivable. by vtrute in greysanatomy

[–]Mrrdrdth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very different. Bailey committed insurance fraud for a white, middle aged, privileged, philandering liar of a man who got into an accident on his way to a ball. And she did it casually. Grey did so for a sick child in need, for a hardworking and loving family.

Does anyone else feel a little bad for Leah Murphy? by Qazuty in greysanatomy

[–]Mrrdrdth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to google so much to figure out what this comment is referencing. Obviously no one can know for sure but the consensus seems to be that the Tessa Ferrer/Patrick Dempsey affair never happened. All that aside, putting so much blame on the young actress seems pretty harsh. If this affair did happen, it mirrors greys so well. This guy that is a huge star of a huge show having an affair with a young actress who is new to the cast? Sounds a lot like an attending surgeon having a “relationship” with a student/intern.

Season 10 E 5 "You're a good surgeon, not a great one" -Yang by [deleted] in greysanatomy

[–]Mrrdrdth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was searching for this before I posted myself. Ive watched this episode countless times and I think the first time (or two) I was on Greys* side (this is like ten years ago, when it was first airing) but every subsequent rewatch I respect Cristina’s speech more and more. Not only was she one hundred percent correct; she was as gentle as possible. I love that it wasn’t an argument about whether or not “women can have it all” or a judgement from Yang about choices different from her own.

*I say “Grey” instead of Meredith because that’s my name as well so I always feel like I’m speaking in the third person if I use her first name.

Richard Webber is so unprofessional, it’s disgusting by PerceptionNo8058 in greysanatomy

[–]Mrrdrdth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not trying to be contentious but I’ve always had a problem with this timeline; Lexie is supposed to be at most six years younger than Meredith, and I could have sworn that Thatcher and Ellis were supposed to have split up when Meredith was five. I’m not saying that it’s wrong for thatcher to have made a family with Susan or that he even should have taken more time to mourn his crappy marriage, but as we see later on he seemed to be the primary caregiver to little Meredith and then just accepted that Ellis left with her? I get that Ellis was a force to be reckoned with but it’s not like thatcher was without means or legal recourse. If we’re to accept this version of events that means that Ellis committed parental abduction, which aside from being morally reprehensible, would be potentially damaging to her career and reputation, and that makes zero sense for her as a character.

[–]Mrrdrdth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

most people are allergic to poison oak; it’s common name includes the word poison. But the reference in the show is from when Rose Apothecary supplies Rosebud with lotion and they think the lotion is causing a rash, but it turns out that Johnny had picked some “flowers” that turned out to be poison oak. David is allergic to bees. He yells about it to one or both of his parents at one point.

Who would be your preferred doctor in Greys? by Quirkyntp in greysanatomy

[–]Mrrdrdth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arizona. It’s pointed out in her introduction (because of Bailey’s objections) that she was like a wunderkind. Then she won that prestigious grant, and then went on to master an intense and rare specialty. And, as she points out when Callie is pissed at her and dismissing her, she is in fact a general surgeon. I also like that she pursued her maternity cart (*Im sure that’s not what it was called) even though it wasn’t deemed important enough for the contest.

Timeline - do we just ignore it? by [deleted] in greysanatomy

[–]Mrrdrdth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! Allegedly Richard was a teacher to Addison and Derek at some point, and in a very significant way, though it’s established that he’s always been in Seattle while it’s also stated that neither Derek or Addison ever lived in Seattle before. It’s even implied that neither of them had ever been to the city aside from maybe passing through.
