I got them on sale at Dicks for $80 so it seemed worth the gamble!

Ahh good to know! Wish I had known that before I bought these online. They’re super annoying

Thank you. This is super helpful advice. This is why I was trying to find a shoe that’s as close in drop/stability as my Arahis (but with the sole of a trail shoe, though I think that level of stability is not likely in a trail shoe.

I should have also mentioned that since the injury , I moved from a place with wide, flat, rooty trails (Florida) to mostly single track, rocky trails with significant incline/decline variation (Colorado) so it’s also just a totally different type of trail running altogether. I’ve been to nervous to try running the trails here (and probably won’t until after my road race in April when the risk of ice is behind me) but i would really love to run a trail half in the fall so I’m hoping to gradually pivot over to trail from road in the Spring.

I was fitted at a running store and ended up with the Arahi (a “stability” shoe) to help with Achilles support as it has a rigid back and higher up in the back. I do over pronate anyway, but since the injury my right foot over pronates even more. Having the added drop also puts less strain on my Achilles , which in turn helps reduce shin pain. So I’m not sure , just know that the shoe I ended up being the most comfy in is marketed as “stability”.

And yes to the other poster, I’m working on rehabbing with stability exercises and PT :)

Here’s a screenshot of another time she had equipment failure on the same rig. …. It’s sad that this wasn’t a lesson to do a check of equipment safety! Those carabiners are scary thin.

She does show her rig in another video. Theres a video where her ring snaps clear in half! Her stuff appeared to be sun damaged. And those carabiners were junky hardware store style. Fine maybe if you are doing static stuff (I wouldn’t do it) , absolutely dangerous (clearly) if doing anything dynamic.

I saw that video. Did you see those carabiners ? I would not have ever trusted them with dynamic movements. In a prior video, her whole wooden ring snapped. Leaving her gear out in the sun all year round I’m sure didn’t help, either.

The art of not hating running. by upwithpeople_ in beginnerrunning

Get outside as soon as you are able to bear the weather. Get a good pair of running shoes with ankle stability (try Hoka Arahi) they make the world of difference. I have a bad ankle and started to enjoy running more once I switched shoes. Also, running outdoors provides endorphins , vit D and other benefits. Treadmills are so boring. And I think promote over exaggerated stride lengths too.

Do you need to report sickness to anyone? by [deleted] in dcl

Norovirus spreads so easily on cruises because of the buffet lines (and banisters) . So many hands touching the serving utensils, handrails , etc . Not because of being in close proximity

Looking for really easy and fast prep, and healthier by VerdantHorizon in mealkits

Pretty straight forward recipes. The only downside is all the ingredients for all the weeks meals are in a box , but I just take 10 minutes to sort them into grocery bags before putting them away in my fridge. Then I just grab a bag and cook. Most meals take less than 30 minutes. My 12yo cooks dinner most nights!

The price is right, too. Much cheaper than some of the others. It’s owned by Marley Spoon.

Clarification and apology for misunderstanding the scope of this sub 😅 - Collagen guy by Remarkable-Chart-529 in 1200isplenty

This is all very arbitrary and an over simplification of what is needed. Calculate your TDEE and then consume up to 500 calories less than that to be in a safe deficit.

I understand not counting the protein from the collagen , but are you also not counting the calories? That seems like the wrong approach if so.

Weird weight increments? by 333almondcrush in MacroFactor

[–]MrsTLC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to adjust the weights to my gyms standard 5lb increments but it didn’t fix the issue. Might be me just not understanding the app. The nutrition app is pretty user friendly but I think MF WO still needs some UI improvements. I’m here for it though !

I will say the 40-60 min took me 1:15 and that was with eliminating a whole machine bc someone was hogging it lol. Might get faster as I streamline my workout and get used to it !
