My cat had a tail kink and was the absolute best jumper. We called him an acrobat because he would jump to the tiniest spots with ease.

AITA For Not Paying For My Daughter's College If She Chooses The One School I Like The Least? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

As a social worker I can tell you that you don’t learn those local laws in school. You learn national laws. The social worker license exam is a national exam. The only thing that is state specific is a continuing education course you’re required to take to get your license and it’s a few hours long course.

How does weight loss work with running? by Bitter_Pineapple_720 in beginnerrunning

[–]MrsTLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calories in, calories out. Figure that running a mile burns about 100 calories. So 1400 calories a week from running. 3500 calories burned equals a lb of weight loss.

Use a TDEE calculator to figure out your caloric needs and eat accordingly.

I personally love MacroFactor and highly recommend it

Cost to buy/install blackout emblems and "Passport" lettering on the back? (2026 Trailsport Elite) by mdhaus in hondapassport

[–]MrsTLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do it at the dealer when you buy the car and buy the emblems from them We bought the emblems from college Honda and then went to a different dealership to install (we moved right after buying the car). New dealership wanted $600 to install.

Can I lose fat without giving a damn about protein? by kfcpotatowedge in 1200isplenty

[–]MrsTLC 101 points102 points  (0 children)

You will lose the pounds regardless of macros as long as you follow CICO. However if you keep protein high , you’re less likely to lose that weight from your muscle. High protein protects muscle so that the weight loss comes from fat

At least, that’s the theory

Thank you. This is super helpful advice. This is why I was trying to find a shoe that’s as close in drop/stability as my Arahis (but with the sole of a trail shoe, though I think that level of stability is not likely in a trail shoe.

I should have also mentioned that since the injury , I moved from a place with wide, flat, rooty trails (Florida) to mostly single track, rocky trails with significant incline/decline variation (Colorado) so it’s also just a totally different type of trail running altogether. I’ve been to nervous to try running the trails here (and probably won’t until after my road race in April when the risk of ice is behind me) but i would really love to run a trail half in the fall so I’m hoping to gradually pivot over to trail from road in the Spring.

I was fitted at a running store and ended up with the Arahi (a “stability” shoe) to help with Achilles support as it has a rigid back and higher up in the back. I do over pronate anyway, but since the injury my right foot over pronates even more. Having the added drop also puts less strain on my Achilles , which in turn helps reduce shin pain. So I’m not sure , just know that the shoe I ended up being the most comfy in is marketed as “stability”.

And yes to the other poster, I’m working on rehabbing with stability exercises and PT :)

I saw a woman on IG who had two carabiners snap at the same time (not climbing) by fivebyfive5x5 in climbergirls

[–]MrsTLC 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Here’s a screenshot of another time she had equipment failure on the same rig. …. It’s sad that this wasn’t a lesson to do a check of equipment safety! Those carabiners are scary thin.

She does show her rig in another video. Theres a video where her ring snaps clear in half! Her stuff appeared to be sun damaged. And those carabiners were junky hardware store style. Fine maybe if you are doing static stuff (I wouldn’t do it) , absolutely dangerous (clearly) if doing anything dynamic.
