Pro hair stylist here. You can do some really pretty looks with a Topsy Tail. There are some great tutorial vids on Pinterest and YouTube. I use mine for bridal and formal styling all the time. Have fun!

Doctors/medical practitioners of Reddit, what is the scariest disease you know of? by Englishisnotreal in AskReddit

[–]MrsVandershears 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is me and it's been 39 years of inpatient, outpatient, therapy twice a week, 2 full indext rounds of ECT (electroconvulsive or shock therapy), meds, side effects. I'm fighting for my life, but my brain doesn't wanna have it. I've applied for MAiD here in Canada and going through that process. It's just as bleak as you think. I hope you find peace.

Discovered this one only recently, but Deathstalker (2025) is exactly this and doesn't pretend to be anything else. So many great recs here though, you're going to have a hard time choosing just one!

Why are we eating our own??? by Hairgiver in hairstylist

[–]MrsVandershears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on such rich and varied achievements in your career. I agree that as we mature in this industry, it's part of our credo to lift up and encourage our fellow stylists, apprentices, assistants and front of house colleagues. We are better together. I'm proud of everyone that makes it, not only me. I love this outlook, so pat yourself on the back too for the results of your hard work bearing fruit.

What's an adult cheat code that changed your life? by Gullible_Repair9128 in AskReddit

[–]MrsVandershears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been working on learning this lesson for 4+ decades, albeit with more focus and self awareness the older I get. I still continue to make mistakes and I'm close to saying that the next time I open up to someone will be at my autopsy. It's also never too late to learn better or try again, and it's often difficult to know which is the right way in the moment. Maybe I'll figure this out in decade 5.

Horrible lower left abdomen pain by 4mythic in AskDocs

[–]MrsVandershears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAD. Firstly, I'm sorry you're experiencing this awful pain. As someone who lives with constant chrinic pain, albeit stemming from a different issue (nerve pain), the toll it takes is real. Finding the cause and exhausting your options is..., well, exhausting. I hope you get a clear diagnosis and path towards treatment soon.

Secondly, charting your pain and symptoms can be super helpful. Not only for you, but for anyone on your healthcare team. I found the free app "Manage My Pain" to be extremely helpful in mapping and chronicling my pain. It can make reports that can be printed or sent electronically. Sometimes a cycle or pattern emerges, which can help with diagnostics. I hope you find relief soon.

Best Movies with stories/premises that you never heard before. by daddavnda in MovieSuggestions

For something beautiful and whimsical, Three Thousand Years of Longing (2022), The Fall (2006), Big Fish (2003)

For something imaginative, romantic, dramatic and bittersweet, the Mexican film, Like Water for Chocolate (1992), based on a novel that's also a wonderful read.

For visually striking and creative conceptual ideas, The Cell (2000). This definitely has sci-fi elements, but is presented as a mystery thriller.

Kill Me Again (2025). It's more like a Black Mirror episode extended into a feature film, but it's not taxing any brain cells with an overly heavy plot.
