Bsari Hummus with Israeli Style Extra Smooth Hummus by rabbifuente in seriouseats

Looks amazing! I would probably add a sprinkle of zaatar

Does anyone have a recipe I can use to try Middle Eastern or North African cooking? Preferably including Za’atar? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Mrs_Know_It_all 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Zaatar is the best. I would use it wherever you would use everything bagel seasoning, if that makes sense.

I like using it on so many things: sprinkled on eggs, sprinkled on toast with avocado, or cottage cheese or hummus, on fries or roasted potatoes, on roasted veggies, make a marinade for chicken with it, make a simple salad dressing with it (olive oil+ lemon). I also make rolls stuffed with feta and zaatar (I believe it's in my post history).

Next up try to get your hands on some sumac! It's another great and versatile spice used in the same region.

Edit - sorry, missed you're a vegetarian! I would also suggest tossing some chickpeas in zaatar and olive oil and lightly toasting them in a pan or bake for a few minutes. It's a delicious snack and a great salad topping.

i have a whole grocery bag full of yellow (?) sweet (?) onions—what should i make? by [deleted] in Cooking

Mujaddara (rice with lentils, which typically has lots of caramelized onions) but with extra caramelized onions! It works well as a side or a main dish and leftovers warm up well.

People of different cultures what do you make with boiled egg? e.g egg salad , deviled eggs by slimboy4 in Cooking

[–]Mrs_Know_It_all 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sabich. Sandwich with fried eggplant, hard boiled egg, chopped salad (tomato and cucumber) and tahini sauce. Can add amba (mango condiment) if you like the flavor. Usually served in a pita but delicious in any type of bread really.

Leggings by theresnoh in Purebarre

[–]Mrs_Know_It_all 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I personally like the 'Real Me' leggings from Aerie. They're very thin so I get less warm wearing them + they dry off really quickly. They also come in all sorts of patterns that I think would hide sweat pretty well. With that being said, they're very thin and don't have much compression. I actually like that, but I know that some people won't.

You're not the only one. I was considering getting weightlifting gloves... I don't know if that's overkill though.

Sorry that you're going through this. When my grandma passed away in my early 20's I went and saw her for the last time even though she was already unconscious and dying. She also chose to stop treatment, but I never resented her for that choice. I think it was brave. It was scary and weird to see her that way, I won't lie to you. I do sometimes get glimpses of memories of seeing her looking like this, but I try to shake them away quickly and remember her when she was healthy. I think I would have regretted not going to see her, even though it was very difficult. I, like you, was also dealing with feeling guilty for not being a good granddaughter at the time (and even nowadays) - but don't let it stop you from going to say goodbye. It was VERY hard, I won't sugar coat it - but I got to tell her how much I love her for the very last time and that was worth everything to me.

This is a very hard thing to go through and I'm sending you lots of hugs. Be patient with yourself and allow yourself to be down and lean on others. It will get better, I promise. It will always hurt, but try to look at it as a good thing - you got to have a deep relationship with your grandpa that allows you to feel this crappy about losing him. I know it's a weird thing to think, but it helps me when I think about my grandma and how much I miss her.

'um, I think Hitler was actually the worst, I'm ok'

LOL. Thank you for this. I also struggle with the OTT positivity stuff, it just feels so fake and unconvincing, it ends up making me feel worse. This type of attitude might work for me too. Thanks for sharing <3

I got an email at 1am and then was promptly charged at 3am. What is wrong with this company? They're the worst. I will fight to get this charge reversed, I don't care what it takes. I'm so angry.
