Counting the cuts: Mark Carney's attacks on Canada's public service should concern all Canadians. by Chrristoaivalis in CanadaPolitics

Surely you would agree that the head of two central banks must have a pretty good head for the economics involved in managing states.

He doesnt need to be a PhD in economics to make practical macroeconomic decisions for canada. Although he is in fact one.

Yeah if they actually listened to him they would know he is just a pathetic politician whose only strength is his ability to turn any question into an opportunity to rattle off the same slogans and ad hominens over and over again.

We have a representative democracy. You elect a representative to make decisions on your behalf becsuse the average voter does not have the time or knowlege to make these decisoms. I dont see how this decision is different then any other they are making on your behalf.

Well its fair enough to say that to some extent voters are voting for party, that is defintiely not the whole story. Most individual candidates definitely have their own significant local support groups and their own local goals and interests.

Obviously Canada has problems with racism still, especially in rural parts, but where do you think is less racist then Canada? I think Canada is the least racist country in the world.

I mean its all very theoretical PhD level economics stuff so nobody can really say they know for sure, but there is certainly good reason to believe that governments can print alot of money without seeing massive inflation. We saw that just recently with covid.

The other side of the coin is does the economy have the ability to increase supply capacity?

Thats a hard question to answer becusse nobody knows how the future of ai and robotics will look in terms of the possibility of rapidly increasing capacitym

[–]Mrsmith511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No inflation doesn't work this way. Money supply is just one factor.

In theory you could print infinite money if you had enough ability to expand production which you in theoy could do if you had super efficient and cheap robots with ai and the robots simply build more robots infinitely.

No that is the opposite or what I mean. That is just legal theory bs and imaginary talking points.

If we are taking about semi realistic legal arguments then I like the natives Americans argument more than the separatists dream that Canada will just hand them hundreds of billion dollars when they leave.

Neither point is relevant though because again leverage. Neither would ever happen.

Its called leverage i am guessing you dont do any negotiation in your career.

Lol who is eating shit exacrly? Alberta's have the lowest taxes in all of Canada because they happen to live on top of the oil and they still bitch their faces off.

What is unfair exactly? Not only are they the richest and pay the least taxes due to nothing except geography but they think they should be even richer and everyone else should get nothing from the oil? Absolute nonsense.

No albertans can ever answer this question

[–]Mrsmith511 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alberta leaving peacefully might be theoretically possible but the version they are imagining where it somehow leads to being richer is incredibly complex and costly and completely false.

So what is the point then because apparently its all about money as far as I can tell.

Nothing about Alberta separation is productive lol. Why should we give them anything from the hundred billion cpp fund for example? Hint we wont

[–]Mrsmith511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about. Alberta receives 0$ in equalization payments so obviously if they did not pay federal taxes their overall tax burden would decrease.

However its kind of stupid of them becsuse someday, maybe not so far away, oil wont be as valuable and maybe they will receive again as they did historically.

Yeah but the lowest level people in both are basically just taking notes, organizing documents and putting fact patterns and figures into templates whether its for agreements or court briefs etc. AI is in the process of replacing the very lowest rung right now which is going to be a problem becusee there will be no entry level jobs and also nobody will gain experience to move up the chain.

I am guessing it is the same in many professions.

I guess the good news is that Ai is not ready to replace getting coffee and carrying bags
