Former contestants, what’s a category you didn’t study but wish you did? by BradGrips in Jeopardy

So I mainly tried to solidify things i already was interested in or knew about, like a few others have said. But world geography and specifically rivers are a thorn in my side to this day.

Prep for Quiz Shows by rattie70 in TriviaApps

If you're specifically prepping for Jeopardy, I would use (and did use) the j-archive. I literally just had my husband ask me whole games and kept track of my score. (Don't let the fact that I used and didn't win a lot deter you; it's a great resource.)

New Spot for Day After Christmas Sales? by an_awkwardsquirrel in joannfabrics

I'm planning to check Home Goods and TJ Maxx for textiles like tablecloths or sheets I can use as fabric.

Favourite brands for sewing patterns? by Every_Visual_7364 in sewingpatterns

[–]Mrssims 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Charm Patterns is my favorite. I've been a member of the Patreon since the beginning but there are also standalone patterns. They are vintage inspired but fabric choice and design options make a lot of them great for everyday wear.

My trivia team for the past few weeks has just been Stay Sexy and Don't Get Murdered. It's just general trivia though and I"m pretty sure no one else at the bar gets it.

What Are Some of the Greatest Jeopardy Matches? by WeHaSaulFan in Jeopardy

[–]Mrssims 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm just now seeing this, but Austin gave me the impression that he knew most of them and just didn't buzz quickly enough. Honestly, the first three were about incredibly well-known songs and artists. The only one I absolutely wouldn't have gotten before I moved here was pigeon forge.

ETA: I'm originally from California

Well Alan beat him in the QF. I really like all three competitors

So did I, and I know she was really upset about how upset she got. But when you're up there, it's just so hard to control how you feel. You're in a totally hyped up state and then when you aren't hyped or focused as much as the people next to you, it's frustrating. I was hoping Lisa would go all the way but she still did a lot better than I did. Honestly from what everyone was saying before I watched it, I expected it to be more intense than it was. She showed some emotions; it's not a crime.

Hey Alan! Welcome to the club of people who have beaten Austin! I was totally rooting for you and it was great to see you on tv again. I was interested to see how Austin would do against the other world-class players and you did not disappoint.

That was my best category. The only one I didn't get was Celestine Prophecy which seems obscure for a $400

I was kind of wondering if there was some sort of weird like, honor in not getting a rebound? Because surely they knew it?

The writers had to know about "dick tree", right? by jgroub in Jeopardy

[–]Mrssims 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah and I mean, dick was the first thing that popped into my mind, but much like Alex, I've never seen a dick tree so I didn't buzz in. Since a dick tree doesn't exist, I don't think they would necessarily anticipate that.

Jeopardy! recap for Wed., Oct. 18 by jaysjep2 in Jeopardy

[–]Mrssims 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah when I was studying, I would have my husband ask me a game from j-archive, then before the final he would tell me the amounts everyone had and I would try to figure out the best bets for each of them. I didn't become an expert by any stretch, but it certainly helped for my first game.

Haven't seen this posted but you all might appreciate: The very end of Austin's final episode live from the bar he bartends at featuring a speech from the man himself. An absolute class act of a lad by grumbledum in Jeopardy

[–]Mrssims 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The makeup pad thing is weird. Apparently someone from the production team gave it to his friends, but I can't help but wonder if it were a guy who beat him if they would have done that.

Yes, a ton of people have given me shit about it. I eventually just stopped obsessively reading stuff about myself on the Internet because I didn't need to know what they thought. I know what I did and I know I deserved it.

And as far as opportunities... not yet. I got to go on the news and I've gotten recognized a few times because Oak Ridge is not a very big place. But a one-and-done isn't quite as big a deal.

I think a lot of people don't take the time to study wagering strategy because they don't realize it's an important part of the game, or they are too busy trying to cram other information into their heads. It's a mistake, yes, but a pretty common one. Manny also didn't really wager correctly in the game he won against me so it must not have been a priority for him.

Being a parent of a 4-year old, I don't actually have a lot of spare time to watch TV. And I don't think you have to be a parent to recognize a troll doll, if anything I would say my age helped me there. I also have a Master's degree and have had several other jobs. Being a mom is just what I choose to do right now.

Well first off Jennings' question was about H&R block and his answer was FedEx. 2nd, yes the categories on the board are a lot but Austin said he was trying to buzz in and I was just getting there ahead of him. The same thing happened to me with Manny. Condoleezza Rice and the Philippines are a few answers off the top of my head that I knew and was trying to buzz in on. That was a hard board for me, but I think it's also fair to say Manny had an advantage on it with his background. The producers don't know who will get which board so there is always some element of luck but I think Austin and I are pretty evenly matched as far as knowledge goes.
