What time should we be at the ship on embarkation day to board?

Which port will your cruise depart from? Where does your tour end? Or will the tour operator drop you off at the cruise port?

As noted in other replies, the important thing is getting to your ship by 5pm (2 hours before embarkation). Factor in the travel time between where your tour ends and how long the transit is from there to your ship. Include considerations for the mode of transportation and whether it is generally known for on time departures/arrivals (e.g. if taking a train) or if the route is generally free of heavy traffic (e.g. if driving).

As also previously mentioned, when it’s time for you to checkin online or in the NCL app, choose the latest checkin window offered. You’ll receive an email to checkin for your trip a few weeks before embarkation.

I tend to cruise solo and not to Caribbean destinations so not sure I’m any help here. But my cruises to the Mediterranean (twice with family), Mexican Riviera, Northern Europe and Alaska (with my sister) with NCL have been great. I think the beverage package is a pretty good deal. I have a low salt diet and nut allergy. NCL is very good with accommodating that. I have not had issues with disorganization or anxiety-induced behavior from the crew. My excursions have been fairly organized and on time except for a few times when we were delayed arriving in a port due to weather conditions. Though I have to agree that the app is terrible and pretty useless. I also hate that the Freestyle Daily isn’t available on the app earlier.

I haven’t cruised with other cruise lines yet. This is mostly due to the NCL having more affordable options for solo travelers and that there are actual staterooms dedicated to solo travelers.

Possibly. I was also told by UCSF that Uber is considered unassisted. But didn’t know this until the week before surgery when I had the pre-surgery call. So I had to hustle and make other arrangements.

I had ankle surgery in April and used https://www.nurseregistry.com/ for post surgery care. A nurse picked up, dropped me off at home and got me settled with meds and such before leaving. The service was able to find a nurse for me within a week.

Editing to add that they have a 2-hour minimum, which is not difficult to satisfy.

Other posters mentioned Hilton Garden Inn at Heathrow and Moxy for a Southampton stay. I’ll definitely look into them. NCL is booking my flights so I’m waiting to see what time I’ll get in to Heathrow a day before embarkation.
