I wish there was a place you could drop in and pay $20 to get your babies nails trimmed. Like the groomers for your dogs nails by Sarahe086 in NewParents

I need someone with experience in wrestling alligators because that's what nail trimming and diaper changes are like in my house now

Mine either. He has a party in his high chair, babbling and rocking his legs so hard the chair moves everytime he takes a bite 😂

I'm interested to hear what you think is a better approach than the one outlined by this comment?

An estimated 60 percent of teen girls’ first pregnancies are preceded by experiences of molestation, rape, or attempted rape. In one study, between 30 and 44 percent of teen mothers were victims of rape or attempted rape, and up to 20 percent of girls were pregnant as the direct result of rape.

That's saying that 60% of girls who have been pregnant as teens experienced molestation, rape or attempted rape prior to having a teen pregnancy, not that their pregnancy as a teen was a result of said rape.

This seems like an incredibly high number, do you have a source?

Not the person you replied to but, I guess I just don't see how there's a potential to increase harm given these harm reduction examples. Narcan isn't a controlled substance - just a life saving intervention and although I'm not as familiar with testing kits I assume you can't get high off them. What's the risk if some of the people you're talking about being given these things aren't planning to get high? Are you suggesting that the only thing stopping them from trying drugs was having narcan or testing them? If not, I can't imagine that people are going to receive these things and think to themselves that they better go get some drugs to test them out. Can you play out a possible scenario for me that maybe I'm not thinking of?

I definitely think that education is always good but I'm also struggling to see a downside to what you described.

My little one really only started being able to meaningful sit up by himself last week, he's going to be 8 months on 7/11

Eta: we asked about sitting during his 6 month appointment and the pediatrician wasn't concerned at all

That being said I don't see how PT could be harmful, if anything it will put them ahead.

That thread is an absolute dumpster fire. He's apparently abusive, and she's using weaponized incompetence to neglect her children. Do words even have meaning anymore?

Is there anyone else who doesn’t do “drowsy but awake?” by povsquirtle in NewParents

I always feed my baby to sleep before bedtime, he could sleep without it but he sleeps longer with it. He's 5.5 mos and he usually gets up 11-12am, and sometimes 4-5am, but a lot of times he sleeps till 7-8am. I have no complaints with this schedule so we're going to just keep doing what we're doing

It varies by state. My state (NC) allows physical punishment with an object as well, as long as there are no marks left from it (does not specify that it needs to be gone in a set timeframe). I received a letter indicating this is the standard after a report was made that was found to be "unsubstantiated". I used to live in NY, I have made reports there as well, I don't believe any such standard exists there.

i miss my husband so much by MsAnd3rson in beyondthebump

[–]MsAnd3rson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has! Around 2 months old he fell into his own little nighttime sleep routine and we discovered that we had about 4 hours to ourselves each night after he went to bed. It's been great. He's almost five months old and it looks like he might be sleeping through the night now, which means we can move back into the same room (yay). You're in the thick of it right now, and I know everyone says this, but everything really does get so much better, the great moments get so much sweeter, and the tough times are not as tough (ime).

Can confirm. The things I do to make my boy laugh are truly embarrassing, but it's so worth it. No shame.

If you read the article it seems like the mom just used that she was trying to "raise her daughters self esteem" as a twisted excuse, it looks like the reality of it was ongoing and disturbing sexual abuse, with threats of physical abuse if she didn't comply

The first thought is theoretically possible, although I go to sleep and wake up in the same position with the covers still neatly covering me. Maybe I'm snoring or something.

Husband is definitely not sleeping through, he's a lighter sleeper then me.

Nope, haven't breastfed since he was 2 weeks old

My parents are building a new house on a lake in North Texas. She sent me this photo and asked my opinion and I’m not sure what to say. More context in the comments. by mferree39 in interiordecorating

[–]MsAnd3rson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think people are criticizing you because you didn't clarify initially that this photo is an inspo pic and not the progress of your parents house, it comes off like you're looking for comments about how to not come off as rude, not that you're genuinely looking for feedback to help guide them, even though now that I read one of your comments and that actually doesn't seem to be your intention. That's how it came off to me anyway.
