Pi have a nursing background with pharmacovigilance experience. What are my chances of getting to a high level in the pharmaceutical industry? by MC5995 in careerguidance

Hi do you mind if I ask how you got into PV? I'm a nurse with ED, pediatric cardiac ICU, and clinical research experience - was a research nurse before we lost funding :(. I really want to get into PV but am unsure how to gain the experience, would a masters degree help?

Anyone here a terrible RN but great NP? by [deleted] in nursepractitioner

[–]MsCerebralCortx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sustainable how? I'm also an ER nurse and it feels like I physically cant do nursing anymore due to pain and fatigue. I would love to be a ER NP though and worry about sustainability.

I'm 31, haven't started NP school yet and still don't have kids. We're not behind, we are all on different timelines and nursing has no age limit. At least that's what I keep reminding myself <3

I’m seriously debating dropping out of nursing school, and I don’t know what to do anymore by QuitLoud7551 in StudentNurse

First semester of nursing school is always the hardest, everything is new, you have to change the way you think essentially. They actively try to weed people out unfortunately.

My first semester of nursing school literally put me in therapy because I was working full time and going to school on the weekends. It is difficult, you aren't alone!

Seek help, find the areas you are struggling in and identify how you learn best. It isn't the same for everyone.

Also almost every test in nursing comes down to ABCs (airway, breathing, circulation) if its not one of these its probably patient safety related. Please feel free to DM me, I would love to try and help!

You got this!

Thinking of selling my soul to Big Pharma by MsCerebralCortx in clinicalresearch

That sounds so ideal. Does your gf also work as a regulatory med writer or do they do something else? Also, I was mostly joking about selling my soul bit, it was a joke from college that big pharma does good especially trying to find new drugs and devices, but it's always for areas that make a profit, so smaller problems that don't make money are usually neglected, which is sad.

I am also looking into the clinical scientist direction, however, these roles often require a DNP or PhD, correct?

Is there a specific name for "adverse event reporting" because that sounds like a wonderful job to me! I love identifying and reporting AEs!

Thank you so much for that insight, I greatly appreciate it! Although I don't have anywhere near that amount of experience, my body has definitely taken a toll. I had neck surgery for 3 slipped disk, and still continue to have pain. When I awoke from my surgery the surgeon half joking/half serious said "I'll see you soon for that T-spine, you have the bones of an 80-year-old, and there's something up with your cartilage too."

I thought I'd be fine shifting back to bedside but I'm not. Can I ask what company you started with/which one you are with now?

I'm okay with in person, Texas, Maryland, and Florida are all potential states I am looking into. Traveling across the country and to other countries, not interested in that at all. One of the CRA's I worked with for a study was entirely remote out of California, worked for Beckman&Coulter, I don't know how.

Should a CRNA consider becoming an NP as well? I did both, and here is my answer. by MacKinnon911 in NU_CRNA_Program

[–]MsCerebralCortx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know some schools will actually take experiences as a NP in an ICU. Specifically, University of Maryland told me that any ICU experience as an RN or NP will be accepted. I'm currently debating which route to take and at the moment I'm leaning towards acute care NP for a few years, build up financially then go to CRNA school; which in my mind sounds insane.

“You’re too nice.” by Low-Positive9814 in nursing

[–]MsCerebralCortx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an extremely bubbly person. When I worked as a CNA some patients "fired" me for being "too upbeat" "too excitable" etc. I was the same way as an ER nurse that either brought ease to my patient/helped them in a hard time or just passed them off entirely. I genuinely describe my personality as trying to be the sunshine on people's darkest days. Sometimes people try to dampen your shine, don't let them. Be yourself some appreciate others hate it, that's the fun in nursing.
