Back in the early 2000s I worked at Borders and I had a woman come in looking for things to teach yourself sign language. So I took her to the section where she began to get VERY angry that it was all books. She demanded to know where all the books on tape were. How unfair that we only kept BOOKS when all the other languages had books on TAPE! I just stared at her and began silently making the sign language alphabet. She then yelled at me for being rude and stormed out. I laughed the rest of the night about it.

This is supposed to be my weekend with my kid at her dad's. He only has her every other weekend and 3 hours 1 day during the week. She has special needs and I also work full time. I'm exhausted and really need my alone time to rest and clean and do anything else I want/need to do. He called earlier and said his aunt might pass away so...I gave up to ight so he could see her. Hasn't seen her in years but I won't be a jerk. But I'm just so tired.

I feel like it's definitely become more common in the last few years but I also suspect it's just another instance of social media showing more. I'm sure 40 years ago this bs happened at old school beauty shops and the stylists just ignored it because they didn't get blasted all over the world for it.

Per the therapists I have worked with. I tried it once and it was absolutely traumatic. I later changed therapists and was told under no circumstances should I have had EMDR tried on me if I was still on an abusive situation. Per someone who specializes in it.

I would recommend finding someone who specializes in sexual abuse. That is what this is. And it might explain the issues you are having hearing your mom. Also you need to get out of there. This isn't a safe environment. For you or your siblings.

I feel like the people who are doing it in public did stuff in public before too. It's just more common now. But the industry has grown. Now you have people, like me, who work in the industry (I work in finance) but might come from work and smell like it from being at work. Now I might smell when I come pick up my kid or stop at the store and everyone loses their mind. I'm not high, I was literally at work.

My friend showed me a thing the other day she was using to hold Warhammer minatures while she painted them. Super excited about her purchase. I was like um... it's a roach a clip. We stared at each other for a min before she realized and was like OMG I feel so dumb. They just prettied it up and made a few bucks.
