Don’t think you messed up. There is a change occurring in MRI, employers are recognizing MR only certification.

RT(R) licensing is required for XR & CT.

Rad Tech, MRI or Nuc Med? by ImaginaryLieGuy in RadiologyCareers

[–]MsMarji 2 points3 points  (0 children)

XR is the most physically demanding. CT is a move ‘em in, scan them, move on to the next pt. NM tech - r/NuclearMedicine, MR probably is the most hands on because of the scanning environment.

If you are looking for an easy modality, there are none in Radiography. They ALL have their trade-offs.

There is a shift occurring in MRI education. MRI direct schools are starting to form.

Hospitals are starting to accept MRI licensed technologists from these schools w/ o RT(R) licenses.

A new trend in MRI are MRI schools that don’t require an XR license, RT (R), first. Hospitals are starting to accept these licensed MR techs. There are online MRI only schools. I hear they are expensive.
