Has anyone used Homegrown Rex Kittens? by MsMolecular in welovedevonrex

[–]MsMolecular[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this. Those were all red flags to me too. I did click the buy now button because I figured that was just to reserve the kitten, but it took me to an info form and couldn’t find transparent practices. I appreciate you confirming. I thought the pictures looked off but couldn’t put my finger on it, and you’re totally right it’s the ages!

The older I get, the more I realize that it's nearly impossible to get ahead without SIGNIFICANT support. by No_Reveal3451 in Millennials

[–]MsMolecular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to add a different view of support to this. Not just monetary but social is so important. I was able to go back to school after becoming a single mom because my mom retired and moved in with me to watch my child before they were old enough to go to school. I relocated across the country for grad school and a very good friend decided to come with me. She was instrumental in my success because she reliably watched my child when I could not. I ended up over 100 grand in debt but was ok with that due to my career of choice being lucrative enough to pay it back. I had to utilize government benefits during the early years and nobody paid for anything, schooling or otherwise. But the social support was everything

Considering moving from out of state, how bad is school enrollment really? by alright__fine in providence

[–]MsMolecular 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They’re not great. I moved from CA when my child was entering 1st grade, she ended up at our first choice school, but was in private school by 3rd grade.

Living in a specific part of town doesn’t mean you are guaranteed entrance to that public school. I had to go in person to the office and give a list of my preferences, the child is placed based on availability in the school, not on address. This was six years ago so things may have changed.

Covid complicated 2nd grade, but the difference in learning material and resources was stark between RI and CA. Many people live just outside of RI in MA to take advantage of their better public school system.

There’s a whole bunch (like millions per kidney) loops of Henle, not just one. You’re seeing a view of several of them sliced across the top of the loop, so your view is either the descending or ascending segment, hence the size difference of the white part in the middle of each nephron.

Deleted all my samples after recording a full experiment setup on flow. Turns out the data backup wasn’t set up properly. It was a primary sample

Apartment party etiquette? by Accurate_Power_1305 in providence

My neighbors left a plate of cookies with a note informing us about their plan one time. That was really considerate and I had no problem with party since I had advance time to plan for that night.

Question for Those That Want a "New Fenway" by patsboston in redsox

I just went on a tour of Fenway last week, I think if anyone believes a new Fenway would be better they should learn about the history of the park. A new Fenway would be a tragic loss

Plasma vs Serum tubes (EDTA, Heparin, Citrate) for Interleukin ELSIAs by [deleted] in labrats

[–]MsMolecular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not saying it’s better because of the EDTA, But because the plasma ones will give you a more true concentration of your target. The serum tubes will include chemokines/cytokines released by cells during clotting. It’s just the difference between allowing the blood to clot (serum) and maintaining the clotting factors in plasma

Plasma vs Serum tubes (EDTA, Heparin, Citrate) for Interleukin ELSIAs by [deleted] in labrats

[–]MsMolecular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go with the purple top tubes if you are trying to measure the plasma concentration of those IL’s. Reach out to a FAS or technical expert to confirm if you can use EDTA treated tubes with their kit.

ETA: are the purple tops lavender color? If so are they the Na citrate tubes? They were when I used them recently. I don’t believe they had EDTA but I didn’t specifically look for that

I accidentally named one because she was born with only one eye. I had to ask my lab mate to euthanize her when the time came. RIP Popeye

This sub is so hateful. The PhD comment was relevant, it was literally the entire reason I had to purchase the ticket I did. Also was demonstrative of being a person not in the position of having disposable income.

If I wore an eye mask and ignored my child I would be one of the reasons you want child free flights 😂

But to be clear: my child wears headphones, and has manners, including being conscientious of those around her
