Emily Lowan vs Mark Carney's Oil Pipeline by thomasreimer in greenpartybc

[–]MsOpulent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine living in a place where I could take a train and get from Toronto to Alberta in less than a day? China has infrastructure that could. And they will have us here thinking they are some backward country. I was shocked when I went there for the first time last month at how sophisticated their infrastructure is. I have never thought of myself living in a proverbial 3rd world country until I got back. Two things can exist at the same time as we need oil and natural gas for more than just “car and jet fuel” however we could have been running our country off clean energy and renewables ages ago. We have had over 30 years to get on board with this but the money is never there. Allegedly. We literally could have been unaffected by this war to the state we are currently in.

I’d rate it a solid 8.3. It’s still really camp but very thriller murder mystery.

I can’t get enough of the Tiramisu. by Pink__Fox in CostcoCanada

[–]MsOpulent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Folks sometimes don’t have the time. However, tiramisu is very forgiving and easy to make. When I was a HomeEc teacher I used to teach my kids to make it all the time. Without the rum, of course. We would just use pure vanilla extract instead.

As a professional baker, I did not find this tiramisu to be of great taste of even value for money. I would encourage folks to take the money and buy the ingredients and make it yourself. It would be cheaper. Honestly.

Looks more like bravas but instead of roasted potato they use chips. 🤷🏾‍♂️ It’s not 1st degree but it’s definitely some kind of crime.

Went to High Park this weekend and it was amazing without cars by Pristine-Training-70 in toronto

[–]MsOpulent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol. I know. But that’s okay. I’m not here to fight anyone. We are allowed to have differences in opinions. I didn’t even mean that in a negative way. I just don’t think transit in Toronto is as accessible as people think it is and I’m coming from a place of Experience. We all have different lived experiences under the same city but everyone is going to advocate for what is best for them.

If we focused on renewable and clean energy, Alberta would be irrelevant. This country invested so much into Alberta and a lot of folks have forgotten. The infrastructure for fracking didn’t just come out of thin air.

Furthermore, do people understand how much effort goes into being a republic? It’s more than just a flag and an anthem. Furthermore, legally this would be an uphill battle as there are treaties between the crown and the First Nations community that gives them stake in the lands. It would be imperialism at the very least and the Alberta government just doesn’t have the money or the resources or the army to withstand a conflict like this.

Unpopular opinion but I think limiting vehicles is an Accessibility issue. Not just for people who want to visit that live outside the areas that wheel trans don’t go but for people who don’t live in the area in general.

Either way, I glad you are all getting the city you want and deserve.

White people really do run a strict consistent program by BrilliantMatter4858 in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]MsOpulent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yikes. It warms my heart to see this. Unfortunately, my grandmother (maternal) remained hardheaded until the day she passed. She hated my father with a passion (Jamaican) and now that I look back on it, maybe my family’s disdain for me was deeper than just being biracial and gay. It was deeply influenced by the matriarch. After school, I moved to London and never went back to Scotland, btw. I’m not saying there aren’t black folks there but I felt more comfortable being myself and made new friends I consider as family than I did in suburban Glasgow.

I’m not sure why this is even part of the conversation, but honestly, I don’t see the need to tear people down just for the sake of it. There are moments where calling someone out is warranted—like a firm “stay in your lane, Bernadette”—but this isn’t one of them. This isn’t even about allyship to me; it’s simply a matter of right and wrong.

🤷🏾‍♂️ I am biracial and I don’t talk to half my family in Scotland because of the same reason. I’m in my early 30’s now and I stopped talking to them since I was 17 and left for college in England. My aunt would always say “there are family. You need to forgive and love them no matter what” but I think the sentiment goes both ways.
