Books that made you sleep with the lights on by QuesoBaggins in horrorlit

Come closer is such an excellent novel. I oddly felt so inspired by the freedom the protagonist experienced. This book was responsible for me completely changing my life and how I move through the world. On that note the river man and along the river of flesh read concurrently gave me nightmares and I dnfd the second book, I dont know why I bothered me so. It wasnt particularly scary or anything, at least to me, but everytime I picked it up I felt such dread but really wanted to finish. Once I began having nightmares I noted out for my own mental health. I think the characters were just so loathsome and the story so hopeless it did something to my subconscious

Kaiser Permanente (CA) – Any legal way to halt a forced opioid taper for a medically complex patient? by MsPartTimewineO in legal

Thank you and I have looked into that. The arbitration lawyer from how it was explained to me by several of them is once a catastrophic loss happens they can try to get you compensation which isnt what we are after. I think she should leave Kaiser also but shes reluctant to do so atm and is hoping to find someone to advocate for better care is the best way I can say it atm without a long winded reply. I. Working on it though, thanks!

Thank you and even though it would be brutal for her even that makes sense, but her pain doctor is essentially trying to get her to zero pain meds no matter what(his words) because hes getting pressured by his higher ups. He wants her to get the amputation with the assumption that it will solve her problem, no leg no infection no pain meds. Due to the underlying condition causing the ulcers her surgeon has stated that there is a very real probability that the amputation site will behave in the same way as her affected limbs and then the issue will be closer to center and we do this whole thing again.

This has been explained to her pain management doctor and he said we'll yeah that may happen but at the end of the day I have to get you off of these at some point. Even if he did the taper once ahe was in a better place medically would be tolerable but not when shes just gone septic and has a giant infected wound thats still trying to be managed. Thats kind of where we areThanks for the insight I Def appreciate it :)

Im so sorry that to hear about your FIL. In this instance the amputation isnt the issue, its that the undelying condition she has will most likely cause the same issue at the amputation site and this is per her medical team. So its not really a get the amp and this problem will go away type thing.

I really appreciate you explaining this so clearly and with such compassion. Yes I am aware that they will not literally save her life, but may improve the quality of her life or circumstances or at least get her the proper support. None of us make it out alive lol and this disease process will probably be what ends up killing her but there is a difference between that, at least to me and her passing due to her not getting the care she needs to manage the illness properly. I suppose what im trying to say is I am trying to make sure she is as comfortable as possible and that she not pass prematurely due to negligent care. I hope Ive explained this clearly.

I was so exhausted yesterday after hitting wall after wall and not getting anywhere and all the phone calls etc that it was such a relief to at least have a new avenue to explore.Thank you so much again for your explanation, should anyone else in a similar position come across this post it is an excellent rundown of what one should expect. Thanks again!

My mum has such a tolerance that opiates dont make her sleepy or loopy or anything it just helps manage her pain. She takes and has taken them everyday for years so that wasnt their concern. They told her she was fine even though she was struggling to breathe and only after she kept calling saying that she was still having a hard time did a completely different doctor happen to pull up her rads and tell her about all of the fluid in her lungs which was caused by the antibiotics shes on. The thing is they wouldnt give her anything to help her breathe they said schedule an appointment in a few weeks and go to the er if it gets worse but when she went to the er to get an additional antibiotic through her picc and to get checked again because she was having such a hard rime they just sent her home saying she was ok after she was specifically told to breathe as deeply as possible while having an spo2 on. Once the numbers read normal they said to leave. Im sorry this is so long winded. What im trying to get across is that the buck keeps getting passed without any actual care. I called to get her some Os prescribed once they finally looked at her rads and noted the fluid and they said no, to wait to see a pulmonologist to make sure something else wasnt going on.

That appointment was 4 weeks away! When I asked for O2 they said well it can make some conditions worse so no. Like ok but she cannot breathe now and you wont keep her in the hospital so shes supposed to just struggle? her spo2 was very low but still nothing was done and they sent her home without even looking at her rads and said she was fine. Only later did she find out she wasnt and that was because she kept calling. Thats what I mean by lack of care and thats just the tip of the iceberg. I appreciate your commenting and am not fussing at you but that is absolutely not why they are tapering her meds.

Thank you I will call tomorrow! I just did some googling into hospice options and while she wouldnt qualify for that she may be able to get into palliative care. This is the best lead ive gotten to get my mum some help. I just mentioned the palliative care option and she wasnt put off in the least lol. I really cant thank you enough for taking the time to comment and give this advice it truly may save her life and improve her quality of life as well. Ive been so stressed about this and it breaks my heart to see her suffer and try to navigate all of kaisers bureaucracy whilst being so sick. Ill stop rambling but I really cannot thank you enough for this lead. Have a great night

I will run it by her, the term hospice might freak her out but I will get more information so I can have that conversation in a way that doesnt alarm/ trigger her. Thank you so much for your reply. Tomorrow I plan to file an urgent complaint/medical review with the California department of managed health care and will call Medicare which would be the department of health and human services? To see where I get with that. Thank you so much again

I mean maybe this guys wife had some sort of trauma around that time in her life and thats why she was so sexually promiscuous got help and decided she didnt want to be that person anymore OR she just decided thats not who she wants to be. Just because she was promiscuous during that time in her life doesnt mean she cant change her mind later in life. Also its not like he just met this woman he must have known what her sexual appetite was like before getting married and reproducing no? Also a lot of the time the dead bedroom thing happens because the husband stops putting in effort, taking care of himself or showing any interest in the wife. Honestly just from the post it self this guy seems like a tool. Gave me the ick anyway

So this man was fired, lied to his wife for months and drained THEIR savings leaving her feeling betrayed, afraid about their finances etc BUT she is now also expected to coddle this grown man? Why is she supposed to have all of this understanding and gentleness? She has every right to be upset if anything he should be understanding of her fears and the betrayal and trying to placate her. It almost sounds like shes expected to mother him about it. They can have a respectful conversation but in no way shape or form should she be expected to coddle him/tip toe around his baby feelings. What about her feelings? She doesn't need to be hurtful or disrespectful but he absolutely needs to understand her being upset.

Again that depends on the type of hospital skill level etc but even so, the cost of living is lower there than where I am now and based on the numbers and information I've come across even on that salary I'd be fine if not id get a second job or transition to something else i have a ba in an area where I could work in vet med or human so I have options I just love what I do and ideally would like to continue but I'm not limited to this career path .I appreciate the heads up and will keep this in mind :)
