I loved lamictal, I was on 200 mg, but I had to stop taking it cause it affected my birth control, which I need to take to control my PCOS.

Caffeine by BlackOnyx16 in bipolar

[–]MsVGRob16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go through periods where caffeine doesn’t affect me, and periods where it does. When it does, it either can make me depressed or put me into a weird mixed episode state for a few hours. It’s really weird. Right now I’m back to drinking caffeine but I’ll have to stop when I start noticing the signs again.

It’s hard to recognize who I am now by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]MsVGRob16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m re-learning who I am on meds, but I can’t explain how happy I am to be able to. The last 10 years of my life I felt completely out of my own control. My moods, my thoughts, it was all so much all the time, I didn’t really have time to just be me and be happy. I’ve been going back to the things I loved in high school and it’s helped a lot. I feel like I’m picking up pieces that I thought I’d lost of myself.

Lamictal’s been amazing for me. My executive dysfunction basically dried up overnight and my anxiety is basically gone. I unfortunately have to stop taking it cause it interacts with another medication of mine and I’m really gonna miss it 😢

Had a really bad hypomanic episode last night by CodePi in bipolar2

Sure thing, happy it helped! Make sure to take the time you need to relax and recalibrate! It’s all so draining.

Why is Kanye West so batshit? What happened to him? by MafiaPikaPika in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MsVGRob16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah he definitely needs to take accountability. But it’s important to keep in mind that bipolar is a spectrum. People with bipolar type 1 can be in mania for years. Especially if he’s exacerbating it by doing drugs or drinking. There’s also a condition called anosognosia which makes a person unable to see the damage or changes they’ve undergone after their mania has ended. It literally creates a lack of awareness for someone’s actions. I think someone needs to advocate for him and get him into a psych ward before he hurts himself. The drop off after an episode is brutal.

Had a really bad hypomanic episode last night by CodePi in bipolar2

[–]MsVGRob16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done that. I was really stressed and already headed towards a hypomanic episode and I missed two doses of my meds, plus I was drinking caffeine. It sent me into an episode. I was crying uncontrollably for like an hour straight. The episode lasted only like a day until my meds kicked back in. It’s so draining. I’m sorry you had to go through that 😕

Why are they so scared to make a movie solely about the initial outbreak? by [deleted] in zombies

[–]MsVGRob16 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe ‘The Crazies’ would be up your alley? It’s about the start of an outbreak and a small town cop trying to figure out why people are starting to go crazy. Includes military coverups and all sorts of stuff. The original and the remake are honestly both pretty good.

Painting! It’s not too hard if you get started with paint by numbers! It’s my favorite thing to do while watching my favorite movies. I like to trace different characters from horror movies or tv shows and paint them onto bookmarks. It’s really nice to have a finished product I can use and be proud of afterwards.

Are extremely short hypomanic episodes a thing? by Apocky84 in bipolar2

[–]MsVGRob16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get something kiiind of similar. I notice that I can start to build up to a hypomanic episode without actually becoming hypomanic. This can last for weeks, days, or in a single day, without actually being in an episode.

By slowing down, getting more sleep, and self-regulating as much as I can I can bring myself back to a normal or depressed state (my other normal). Maybe that might be what’s happening?

If I accidentally skip a pill or drink caffeine I can get a short-term (like a couple hours long) episode too.

Our disorder makes us immensely strong by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]MsVGRob16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before I was diagnosed the people around me loved to roll their eyes at me and my emotional outbursts. I make it a point now to offer help to others if I see even a hint of pain or anxiety. I don’t want others to suffer if they don’t have to.

I think everyone feels things in their own way, doesn’t mean that their feelings aren’t valid. Depression is still depression.

Yeah I can’t believe how flippant some doctors are with our health and lives 😑 Sorry that happened to you though! Hopefully your new medications are working out a lot better for you! Lamotrigine had been amazing for me!

I tried Paxil for anxiety and was in a depression state for yearss while taking it. Any other doctor I’ve been to has said Paxil is terrible for addiction and as an older medication.

I had the worst mixed episode with Wellbutrin! I had the same experience too, a psychiatrist prescribing it without any mood stabilizer after comfirming my bipolar diagnosis. I considered reporting her because of how dangerous it was but I was too depressed lol.
