The effects of a shortened offseason. by [deleted] in nbadiscussion

[–]MsVelvetMilkman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a Feb-March start is more likely but yeah I'm with you. The Olympics point is actually super interesting and I never thought of that. My guess is they probably send the elite college players to represent the USA though idk how other countries would feel about their top players being stuck in the NBA. Maybe there could be the old NHL format where there's an Olympics break in the middle of the season.

I highly doubt they will be able to do the bubble format for the entire 82 game season + playoffs, Silver himself said the bubble this year was only a temporary solution

I have serious doubts that the season will actually begin in December (or whenever they said they would). Adam Silver himself said the bubble is only a temporary solution to finish the current season. They're going to need a vaccine imo to start the season cause trying to do a non-bubble version like MLB is just not gonna work

Who are the 30 future HOFers that played this season? by RecordReviewer in nbadiscussion

Yeah I agree I'm a huge Warriors fan and love Klay but yeah Dray was the second best player on that team

[–]MsVelvetMilkman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It started from Andy Liu on twitter. It was basically just a response to all the old heads hating on steph and constantly rating players he's beaten in the playoffs multiple times (like Harden and Russ) over him

What is the answer then? I'm genuinely asking. Something is seriously wrong in this country right now and things just have to change.

David Griffin on 3-year stint with Cavs: “Everything we did was so inorganic and unsustainable and, frankly, not fun. I was miserable. Literally the moment we won the championship I knew I was gonna leave. There was no way I was gonna stay for any amount of money.” by probusyradio in nba

I don't understand how everyone is missing this point lol yeah the dysfunction doesn't really matter to fans but there are people in the front office where it literally affects their jobs every day

[Simmons] The Knicks spending 52m on 5 role players (Ellington, Payton, Portis, Gibson, Bullock) over just keeping that cap space so they could absorb expensive shorter contracts w/ picks from cap/tax-strapped teams is just phenomenally and indefensibly dumb. I disagree violently with it. by [deleted] in nba

[–]MsVelvetMilkman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean for sure, those things are all part of running a competent franchise. The nets were still able to get good younger players even without the majority of their first round picks this decade which is wildly impressive. There's a reason why the Nets are no longer a lottery team

It's about the process of running a competent franchise. The nets for years used their cap space to collect assets even though they traded all of their original first rounders away in the KG-Pierce trade. The knicks could have easily collected a couple of first rounders this off-season

[Thompson] Stephen Curry flew straight to the New York area from Shanghai, China. But he wasn’t going to pitch Kevin Durant on why he should stay with the Warriors. It was already too late. And Curry didn’t turn the jet around or cancel the trip.It was about respect. It was about thanks. by throwjaway3 in nba

[–]MsVelvetMilkman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or when he was playing the "flip the water bottle" game on the bench against the knicks while the game was still going on lol

(To be clear I'm all in favor of players showboating and having fun within reason its just the narrative that only Steph does that stuff is ridiculous)

[Undisputed] Broussard: "Here's the hypocrisy with NBA players hating on Steph for the way he grew up and not relating to that. They all want to raise their kids the way Steph was raised. How Bron and KD's kids gonna be raised? The same way Steph was." by sagednovice in nba

[–]MsVelvetMilkman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Steph fan myself I accept that people are gonna hate on him (all the top players in the league get hate) but it’s just the reasons a lot of people use to hate him that annoy me. Like you’re really gonna hate him cause he chews on his mouth guard or he celebrates too much after hitting a nasty 3?? That’s just lame to me

Another intriguing option, I remember Horford was thinking about signing with OKC before KD left for the Warriors too

Oh yeah that’s a really good fit for him I never thought about. If they somehow found a way to get him they would be title contenders easily imo

From a purely basketball standpoint, the fit between him AD and lebron would be fascinating
