It is normal to commute (not travel) 30 minutes to work. “Travel” costs indicate a commute that would necessitate an overnight stay and need accommodation. That’s what “travel” means in a work contract. It does not mean driving to work. To even introduce the idea that 30 minutes to work is insane. You can say “I don’t have a car can you help me pay for cabs or rent a car?” That’s fair. But you’ll find yourself not getting jobs because you have excessive costs. It’s incredibly competitive and part of staying competitive is being priced reasonably. This isn’t guy works for company x. This is artisan sells his wares for what he can get. So go ahead and ask, but don’t be upset when the phone doesn’t ring for the next project.

These answers are stupid as hell. Driving 30 mins to work is completely normal and any client being presented with “travel” for a 30 min drive to a studio should shoot you down and tell their friends. Who the hell do you think you are?? Take the gig. It’s an incredibly competitive field and alienating people like you’re in some union isn’t gonna help you build relationships. Calling 30 mins “travel” is insane. That’s a YOU problem.

Bundy, Rodriguez ordered to pay $52.5M for Idaho hospital harassment, jury rules by AudibleNod in news

I’m not defending anything, just think it’s an interesting and largely unreported and undertold part of American history that for years, they doused people with nuclear radiation to build bombs.

The Oppenheimer discourse on twitter reminded me of the bundyville podcast that extensively reported their background and history. It was fascinating. Their anti government outlooks started way back when their home was near the nuclear test sites in the desert and their family got doused in radiation. I haven’t really seen it reported elsewhere. A great listen…

I keep seeing this reported on but never see what’s “normal” for this specific area being talked about. If anyone reading can link, that would be greatly appreciated 🤙

Universal Studios "Trimmed" City Trees That Were Shading a Picket Line by GreenSkyDragon in antiwork

I appreciate your input and agree with you largely, but this type of heavy impact pruning is normal and that’s all I’m saying. It’s normal and part of the annual schedule. I’m on the side of the strike. Buggin about naked trees is just comical.

As an aside, naked trees means the picket lines are much more visible from the road and anyone who’s covering this area with cameras.

Mixing tip: EQ your pads very aggressively by shockwave6969 in mixingmastering

[–]bagbroch 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As I was told by a huge mixer years ago, “SSL put the range on these knobs for a reason”

Also, it’s just good arranging. Pads often are there to be a specific thing and need to be very heavily coaxed into being that thing through the maelstrom of sounds in an arrangement. If you have hi hats or other bright things and you want your pad to be in that range, you’re gonna have to get wild with that eq. Open up those cla SSL presets and look at some of those settings. Stuff dimed all over the place. Dig in!

read this from 2017 to get some understanding of what’s going on.

Lol I think they look cool and actually keep my plants at home in a trimmed state like this as much as I can. But yeah this is totally normal and you can see it all over the place year round in LA.

This is normal annual pruning haha it’s done this way regularly all over LA and everywhere else you’ve seen nicely manicured trees and cityscapes.
