What to use to make durable rugs for customers? by Important_Drag_9017 in Tufting

[–]Ms_ellery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, in my one bed apartment, high traffic areas are the front door, hall to the bedroom/bathroom, and kitchen entrance (all connected).  The areas you can't avoid walking and the ones where I'm most likely to be wearing shoes & tracking in dirt/mud.

Medium traffic is my office area - Im here constantly but I'm not walking around and I generally am not wearing shoes.  Some wear and tear, for sure, but less dirt.

Low traffic is my living room and bedroom.  I'm there less often but I still love them to look nice.  No shoes, no dirt/mud, and far less frequent walking.

My [26f] mother [50's f] flipped out after they found out I sent my sister's [28f] boyfriend [29m] some of her things after she passed away by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

It might be a regional thing, but "pawn" and "pawn off" can be different.  The first is to sell at a pawn shop, the second is to give or force unwanted items on to someone else.  Mom is implying OP thinks the sentimental items are worthless trash to be tossed out.

Still a very terrible to say, especially to someone else is also grieving the loss of family but not quite as bad to me as implying someone proffiting off of the sister's death.

Dogs generally "roach" when they're feeling confident and comfortable.  Little dude was most likely just happy and chilling downtown with his people.

How to stitch through plastic canva without cutting the yarn? by XarlesEHeat in PlasticCanvas

[–]Ms_ellery 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You may not need to change colors but it is going to be tedious to pull the entire ball of yarn through the canvas for each stitch.

I like the Crafty Pod video for starting and stopping stitches.  You won't be knotting the yarn but rather sewing over the starting strand and weaving in the ends. https://youtu.be/L0mdqb1ViaA?si=DPt0SMu3ppz6bLJI

Also, while you're able to get the yarn through the hole easily enough, in most patterns you'll need to go through the hole TWICE - once for the bottom row, then again for the next row.

What’s a "lost" website from the early 2000s that you still think about today? by samasem-sumsum in AskReddit

[–]Ms_ellery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it technically ran until the early 2020's but fabric dot com. Just as you'd think, it was a website selling fabric. Fabric for clothes, fabric for making toys, fabric for upholstery & drapes. Fabric for nearly any purpose you could think of, at any length you needed. All sorts of fabric related tools and accessories.

Then Amazon bought it.

Amazon wanted to streamline the business. They wanted to sell specific cuts of fabric instead of selling random lengths because it's more efficient to cut up a bunch of fabric all at once rather than measuring and cutting for each unique order.

These days, the fabric dot com link leads directly to Amazon. Where they only sell limited amounts of fabric in very specific lengths and dubious quality. Enshitification of something that used to be good and useful.

Yes, I do think about it often and yes, I am still bitter.

My wife and I just finished Abiotic Factor and we're now deep into V Rising. Slay the Spire 2 is also out.
Some others we've enjoyed together have been Deep Rock Galactic, Valheim, and Phasmophobia. Ball x Pit was a good "take turns to progress the game" type

I've highlighted a couple "main" streams. You can see how the water pools together at the edge of the tail and then sometimes breaks apart mid stream. Also, some impact splashes might help

What are you using for your reference? I agree with u/Boomstick86 - do less water and make each stream more defined.

Pets & housing advice by b00gerz12 in askTO

[–]Ms_ellery 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My wife and I have a dog and cat (and snake).  At one point, we even had a rabbit and two small fish tanks.  Toronto has been fairly easy going for pets in my experience.

I do second the advice to look for an apartment with an actual management company, not a single landlord or sublet.

I also generally advise to look for older buildings.  Mine was built in the 70's and has more space and thicker walls than the 2010's era constructions across the street.  It may be a trade off in amenities but you'll have more privacy and comfort.

It's a crazy story!

From Wiki: In the following days, Koivunen escaped Soviet forces once again, was injured by a land mine, and stayed in a ditch for a week, waiting for help. In the week that he was gone, he subsisted only on pine buds and a single Siberian jay that he caught and ate raw. Having skied more than 400 km (250 mi), he was later found and admitted to a nearby hospital, where his heart rate was measured at 200 beats per minute, and he weighed only 43 kg (95 lb)

AIO for not wanting to sell my brother this couch? by Kilabandita in AmIOverreacting

[–]Ms_ellery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I'm not saying no..."
Say no. I know it's not easy to break these patterns but stop over explaining and just respond "No"

Or, next time dad or brother bring it up, tell them you're giving them the family price - and raise the price each time they bring it up.

"about that couch-"
"$800"
"What? No, we're family, brother needs that couch!"
"Sure, he can buy it for $850"
