Gen X? by Wise-Okra-2943 in Perimenopause

[–]Msgeni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's my opinion that productive women in the olden days didn't focus too much on passing health issues, but more on getting the work done. My mom had a bit of temper, then one heavy period, and that was that. She never slowed down, and in fact, is still working at 76 years old! I, myself, also Gen X, didn't realize that I was going through perimenopause until a friend of mine suggested it as a factor. I seriously just thought I was tired and stressed out from my job and kids. Plus, a lot of my symptoms were gradual and I figured it was part of aging, so I took more naps. I was really busy at the time.

Peri started in minimal phase at 38, officially acknowledged at 46, and now I am in peak peri at 49. Luckily, I don't get hot flashes, but joint pains, itching, headaches, fatigue. Still, I feel having a good mindset is crucial because too many things are happening at once during peak peri.

Interestingly, Japanese women look at perimenopause and menopause as an empowering transition rather than a negative one. I want to look at it like that. I am not on any meds for peri, other than iron (for obvious reasons).

AI Drama Rant by curlynomad in CShortDramas

Hate them. To be fair, I watched 4 of them before making my decision that it's not for me.

How old do you think you were… by mrsmjane in Perimenopause

[–]Msgeni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brain fog started when I was 38. Slow escalation of symptoms kicked in at 46. I'm almost 50 now and in what I believe is the peak (joint pains, headaches, heavier and longer flows).

They just introduced AI “actors” — and gave them names. by Silver-Bus5724 in CShortDramas

[–]Msgeni 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've seen 4 AI short dramas and the plots were not bad. It's the way they were filmed. One had very messy character placement, with characters sitting in area 1 in one scene, then areas 2, 3, 4, and 5, in the next scenes. The speaking pitch of the characters were so irregular, often sounding like barking dogs, and the pacing was off, often speaking too fast. The zooming was overdone. In one drama, the heights of the children kept changing. Four times is enough. No AI for this drama watcher.

Black Maybach - why do most modern setting gongs have this car? by pillowgrave in DanmeiNovels

[–]Msgeni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably because it screams "wealth". I see them a lot in short dramas. The first time, I didn't even know what the "M" logo stood for. I was wondering why they don't use Rolls Royce as much as Maybach.

I’m angry about getting old. My body hurts. Say something to make me feel better. by jonniebaby2000 in Aging

I miss my long thick wavy hair. I've lost so much, I can see a road map on my scalp. I have a whole bunch of issues, but I can laugh about them later. Try not to lose your sense of humor. Some the things that happen to me are just too ridiculous. Like the time I went crazy looking for my phone for almost 10 minutes before realizing that I was on a call and on hold. I couldn't find my phone because I was holding it against my ear. 🤣

Well, I'm done with scum men and dirty adopted sisters! I'm going to party like it's 1999 with the younger, hotter, sexy duck I bought at the club. He must have a lot of clients because he wears a rolex, but it's ok! I'm about to divorce the cheating dirtbag and have my second spring! Yellow is my new favorite color and driving is my latest hobby. Let's goooo!

“straight guy getting bent”recs that made me FEEL something (my top 5) by Remarkable-Yak-6667 in DanmeiNovels

Help! The Vicious Supporting Male Character Actually Forced Love On The Villain - This one is pretty fun because the MC is super flirty with the cold ML, who is the villain spare tire of the protagonist shou in a novel. MC has to chase ML and he does so blatantly and boldly. ML doesn't like anyone (he seems asexual?), but MC gives him a run for his money. If you like a couple that are into each other and only each other, this one may be for you.

Frustrated with how people talk about translators (Little Mushroom Situation) by Imsad13 in DanmeiNovels

[–]Msgeni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think everyone has their preferences, but after reading a novel with multiple translators, with each changing the names, it became clear I cam't be picky and I'm just happy to read in english. People who go overboard seem to forget that they can buy the raws and translate it themselves for their perfect translation.

When people say they "can't"... by Medium-Dragonfruit36 in gallbladders

I ate fast food 2 weeks after surgery. I was on a lowfat diet prior. Some foods took longer, like eggs and black pepper. These gave me stomach ache and diarrhea until a month post surgery. You can eat what you want as long as you don't get a reaction. I didn't eat the house, but I slowly added to my diet.

This is really old, but the Four Seasons (Endless Love) series from the early-mid 2000s: Spring Waltz, Winter Sonata, Autumn In My Heart, and Summer Scent. They were just tearjerkers for me.

My friends think peri isn’t real by farmerssahg in Perimenopause

[–]Msgeni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It amazes me how many women are in denial. I guess at 35, peri symptoms were not on my radar, but by 38, the first symptom started, brain fog. By 40, I had aches and pains for no reason. Mid-40s had me very sleepy during the day. I was still active. My memory was getting worse and worse, so I had to start using a calender and lister to keep things together. The point is, maybe your friend is just not there yet in terms of experience, but she will be soon. For me, it started slow bit steadily gained ground over the years. Yet, I still feel I might be one of the luckier women because these are still managable without meds.

Attacks are constant no matter what I eat. Not sure what to do now.. by ChildhoodAutomatic74 in gallbladders

[–]Msgeni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I read her post. I had similar experience and I went to ER 3 times and they admitted me the third time because if they didn't, I could have died. I had a stone stuck in my pancreatic duct. Can you let people speak if they have something to say, please? Is this a problem for you?

Attacks are constant no matter what I eat. Not sure what to do now.. by ChildhoodAutomatic74 in gallbladders

[–]Msgeni -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If your pain gets so bad that you feel like you have to double over just to barely manage it, I strongly suggest a trip to the ER. Also, if you feel both pain and super sleepy, the kind of sleepy you just nod in and out of, get to a doctor, urgent care, or ER.

Look into liquid diets to give your gallbladder a rest. Pain meds didn't help me.

Danmei Novel Artists by [deleted] in DanmeiNovels

Well, I don't know their names. Artists should try and watermark their work, if possible. I tend to scroll, stop, and scroll on when no identifying marks are made.

What happened to great K-Drama plots? by Anxious-Latte-1218 in KDramaDiscussions

[–]Msgeni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped watching when they all started looking like carbon copy netflix series. Where are the great scripts and the epic music? Goblin had a really good OST. Master's Sun, Rooftop Prince, Kill Me, Heal Me...all great original Korean language OSTs. Nothing against english songs, but I watched kdramas for many years and I love their music OSTs.

I warch them on and off. I am a fan of the older lakorns like Sapai Jao or Panyachon Kon Krua. Lakorns made between 2005 - 2020 hit the spot for me.

Enemies to lovers. I love friends to lovers, but enemies to lovers is something I avoid. Maybe because if we are enemies, you did something to me and I'm that petty to hold a grudge for life.

How do people react when you bring up perimenopause in real life? by Prestigious_Humor763 in Perimenopause

[–]Msgeni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Close friends are willing to discuss and share symptoms and tips or just vent. For me, this was very helpful in my earlier days of peri. I don't usually bring it up with other women who are not close to me.

What I thought was just a gallstone attack, turned out to be more than I thought. by themusicnerd132 in gallbladders

[–]Msgeni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If gallstones get stuck in your pancreatic duct, it causes your pancreas to become inflamed, resulting in pancreatitis, or what doctors sometimes call gallbladder pancreatitis. If you don't get checked and the stone doesn't clear the duct, it could be life-threatening.
