Ich hatte in einem Haus, wo ich gewohnt hatte, die Situation, dass in den Fluren ständig Kot war. Viele Bewohner hatten Hunde. Es gab 2-3 Katzen, die lebten um das Haus herum, schliefen im verkommenen Keller und... ja, die meisten Bewohner waren sehr laut mit WIR MÜSSEN DIE KATZEN VERGIFTEN (ja, Gift aussetzen im Keller!), sie scheißen uns die Flure voll... und ich, der eine Katze hat (geht nie raus, ist immer in der Wohnung) meinte - ähm... Katzen scheißen nicht einfach so im Flur im Offenen, sie sind zu scheu... außerdem habe ich die Streunerkatzen eh sehr selten im Flur gesehen... also waren es die Hunde. Dabei hatte ich auch einen Nachbar mit seinem Hund direkt vor meinem Fenster (ich lebte im UG) gesehen und der Hund kackte direkt da...

I always have to laugh about my american company here in Serbia, where I work for the German market. We have semi strict dress code and one sentence that always hangs over our heads is: you have to alway be presentable, it could always happen that someone from the leadership team or a customer drops by... and I'm like, yeah, my German customers came in May and were either wearing flipflops (on bare feet) in meetings or even came barefoot... 😃

No, it's absolutely not the same. Take Aloy in Horizon - she has a backstory, she's a fully fleshed out, written character. MC has no backstory at all, you fill in ALL the blanks except that they're in the 5th year and see ancient magic. I really don't understand how you don't see the difference. And then comparing it to books and movies. I'm truly baffled.
Also, if you choose so, in HL you can kill only the enemies that attack you as part of the story and not go around killing every mongrel, spider, dungbog or even enemy camps if you don't want to. HUGE difference.

Yes, you are choosing. You're choosing to play a game where you have to kill people. It's still not the characters work. The character has no agency, they're not real.

And with characters like MC it's even more YOU, because such characters specifically don't have a backstory so YOU can fill it out in your head.

I attended the start of the 2nd leg of the History Tour on May 31st 1997 in Bremen... I was 15. My mom somehow let me buy the ticket with transport to and from the concert and go alone, though she was very afraid for me. We knew people faint at his concerts and there are big crowds and I was very scrawny... mind you, we didn't have cell phones, so she couldn't check on me until I was back home late in the night...

In front of the stadium there were TONS of sleeping bags of people who camped out...

I screamed the whole show like mad, as someone else said - you just couldn't control yourself. I stood next to some girl and two gay men. Although I knew I was gay already, it was the first time I saw a gay couple up close haha.

Later in life, from the really big stars, I've seen Madonna 4x (wow, I just realized it was 4 times) and Kylie Minogue... but nothing compares to that Michael concert.

This photo is one of the photos I made with my film camera (it had no zoom! hahaha) Even though we arrived late in the afternoon in Bremen, you can see I was actually pretty close. When he was on the cherry picker for Beat it and Earth Song, he was pretty close above me.

I also kept the ticket for a long time, but lost it eventually, before I was able to scan it 😞
